I think this is the only Christmas song I've ever produced so I had to stay in character and keep it gloomy.
It's 5 years old and started with a lyric from John Vaughan which (as I do) got changed a bit along the way.
I put the video together from scraps of clips from anywhere I could find them.

No record remains of of the BIAB file I used.
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to you.

Tumbleweed Christmas 2017 John Vaughan & Vic Arnold
V
Everyone rushing to beat the snow fall
While I sit at my window just watching them all
And so when this old festive season holds sway
for a tumbleweed, Christmas is just one more day
V
The big stores are pumping out popular tunes
Well Bing, it looks like your dream will come true
Snowflakes are settling like soft memories
of a time before our love got lost in the freeze
C
The Salvation Army on the corner will play
For a tumbleweed, this day drifts by at slow pace
Christmas Eve's here but it doesn't feel right
Oh I wish I had you to hold on to tonight
V
I'm not one of those who just stares at his beer
I have a few friends. It's a shame they're not here.
We could all share this night but they've places to go
So I sit at my window and stare at the snow
Ch.
Br.
Just for a second in the blink of an eye
I swore she was here, darn it, now I could cry
Maybe a shadow but I don't think it's mine
Could tumbleweeds meet up on this Christmas time
Chorus

Aww. This is superb! The ending was unexpected, given the sad tone of the song, but it worked, and I loved it. Merry Christmas to you, too. You may know, as many on here may do by now, that I love this kind of song - the sadness, the wryness in it, the optimism despite the darkness of the world. So - congratulations; as far as I'm personally concerned, you hit the nail right on the head with this one. Thank you so much for sharing, you're an incredible musician.

Nothing wrong with a gloomy Christmas song; many are gloomy this time of year. The waltz and the violin work well.
Would have been nice to have the lyrics.
Great job.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Sometimes simple is good, and this is one of those times. I like what I heard, I wish you could've added the lyrics on here to follow!!

[ Disclaimer: I hate all but one Christmas songs ... it's nothing personal, it's just an overdose thing ]

That being said, you wrote a beautiful song, just right for this time of year. And you have the perfect voice for this type of song.

Vic...a pretty and very sad song...really well done... you captured with the music and your vocal performance the nuance of the lyrics and sentiment of many people around this time of year...tender and beautiful!

Nice write!

I'm not one of those who just stares at his beer
I have a few friends. It's a shame they're not here.

Nice combination of singing and almost speaking - love the emoting.

Everything else is great as well, but you get an extra gold star for the lyrics.

Subtle harmony. Good arrangement - understated and airy.

Thanks for the early Christmas present!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Vic, there’s nothing wrong with a gloomy Christmas song. Your voice fits the mood perfectly. Some more fine lyrics from John. You two make a fine team. Happy holidays to you, Tom

Hi Vic,

A lovely/sad, almost timeless, Christmas song, you've made Vic!
I love that very familiar sounding melody and enjoyed your vocals in it.
Already 5 years old; doesn't feel that way.
But time flies...

Mery Christmas to you too Vic,
Hans

Hey Vic, another nice one. I loved that line "The big stores are pumping out popular tunes, Well Bing, it looks like your dream will come true" That was a great way to end that song as well. I don't know if you meant it that way, but I could sure hear this in an old western style.

I absolutely loved this, I thought of Tom Waits if you had used a gravelly voice to sing it. But perfect as delivered. Lot of great lines in it. A real winner, Vic!
