Can BIAB2023 be set to four optional boxes for each bar? Now each bar can click to select 2 boxes. As a result, I cannot select the following chords and use enter+shift to play! I think it is more appropriate to turn each bar into four selection boxes. This is more practical than the micro chord function.
I don't know why it's like that. If you could select each beat it would be better I would of thought. Also make the highlight selection highlight per beat rather than only be able to select the whole bar as you might only want to regenerate 2 beats of the bar.

You confuse me with your question as you already have 4 beats to the bar.
In BiaB the first two beats of a 4-beat bar are separated by a comma ',', e.g. E and Eb, the same for the second two beats (beats 3 & 4) e.g. D, Db.
But you must already know this, surely?

Exactly! Having the option to set the box resolution to 16th notes or 8th note triplets would be much better than micro chords.

The approach they took to give us more subdivisions was to implement Microchords. However, I agree that four 'entry areas' in each cell in the chordsheet (or 3 if in 3/4 time) would be more sensible with or without the Microchords. The need for a comma is probably the first or second question new users ask about here. Other software displays in terms of four beat to a measure with no need for special entry.

Now with Micro Chords you have 16 beats per bar, I would have to look deeper into it all and see if there is a way to bypass the 4 beats limitations to give real time signatures greater than 4/4. RealBand will give them but you need to have actual RealTracks recorded in these. You just wouldn't have micro chords on these other time signatures. Here's 6/8 real time signature:
In my view, they took something that was already a poor design (chord delineation using a comma), and made it more complicated by adding the 'micro-chords' functionality.
The correct approach surely would have been to allow a chord to be positioned anywhere in the bar, the same way that a note can be placed anywhere in the bar.

That's right. Everyone agrees. How to let BIAB officials know that four bars can be input for each bar. It should not be difficult.

yes. I don't like using commas. I like to turn each bar directly into four grids. Even 8 grids and 16 grids. Now there are only two grids, which are not easy to use. In this way, you can click to select each grid, and use "enter+shift" to play chords
Yes, good so far, but the irony is that this would be a step backwards. You have resolution of 2 chords per beat, but Microchords give 4.
Yes.
Although there are four Microchords, I cannot click to select to use shift+enter to play. I think Microchords can be retained. But let each bar become 4 or 8 squares. Also, I haven't used Microchords
Could you work with a single chord track in the Audio Edit window ? This might be easier for them to implement as you can zoom in to add 1/16 chords and they will display as micro chords in the Chord Sheet and linear chords in the Audio Edit.
Could you work with a single chord track in the Audio Edit window ?
thank you. I'm not for audio editing. I want to make everything easier. I have written clearly. To play each chord more conveniently. Use shift+enter Thank you for your warm help, but you don't understand what I mean.
thanks again! I have never understood why the official didn't see this post?
To play each chord more conveniently. Use shift+enter
Here is a shortcut key combination that you can use to play any of the 4 beats in a bar.
Hold down ALT, then press F5, followed by the beat that you want to play (e.g. 2 for the second beat in the bar, followed by w (still holding down Alt)
F5 <beatnum> w
Explanation: ALT+F5 brings up the Chord Options dialog - within this dialog you can switch to any beat in the current bar using ALT+beatnum, and you can Preview a chord by pressing ALT+w.
There isn't currently a simpler shortcut like Shift+Enter to play the chord on the second beat... maybe something like ctrl+shift+enter could be added if there is no conflict with another function.
You have another thread that asks about using Shift+Enter to hear the sound of the chord in beat 2 or beat 4 of a 4/4 measure. I gave you another workaround, very easy to do, in that thread.

I can see this on a linear line of chords such as the audio edit window, but wouldn’t want it on the chordsheet (which is a lead sheet), because there is no timing information to tell you when the chords should be played.

Hi, boss. I'm hoping to play the second chord by enter+shift. Please add this feature. Ideally, each bar can input 4 or 8 chords. Now only 2 chords can be entered per bar, which is inconvenient. Hopefully the next update will allow you to enter 4 or 8 chords per bar. I'm not talking about microchord function. What I'm saying is that I can just type more chords into each bar, in which case I can also play with enter+shift.
I've never used audio editing in BIAB. Because I have a STUDIO ONE.

This would be a nice.

I'm sure that was a typo as we all can have 4 chords per bar now.
I would much prefer they forget the microchord function and incorporate that feature into the chord sheet, i.e. adding chords up to the 16th note.

Agreed totally. The MicroChords concept seems to be unique to BiaB and totally inconsistent with music theory and practice in general.
Regardless of how it works 'under the hood', the exposed user-level interaction should not require two different methods to place chords in the same bar.

Yes, we could also add a preview in the “chord options” and the “MicroChords” dialogs. Then you could preview any of the 16 chords per bar that can be entered.

I'm not quite right. (My English is not good, so I use translation software)
Although the microchord function is definitely good. But I'm not using microchords. What I mean is that you can type more chords directly into each bar. Now you can only enter two chords per bar, or four if you use a comma. But I can't play the second and fourth chords by enter+shift. I want to be able to type 8 or 16 chords into the bar, and both of them can be played by enter+shift.

Hello, boss. I read your response carefully again. Do you mean to add previews to "chord options" and "Microchord"? That's not what I meant.
I often use the mouse to click on a chord and then shift+enter to play the chord for a feel. But because the second and fourth chords in each bar of BIAB cannot be played using shift+enter. This kind of play, I need to operate in the interface.
If you have to go to the "Chord Options" and "Microchord" dialog boxes, the mouse won't be able to click on each chord in each bar.
Let me give you an example. Let's say I put 1,2,3,4
But I can't mouse 2 and 4, so I can't play with shift+enter. If shift+enter is used, only 1,3 is heard
I want 1, 2, 3, and 4 to be separate and separate in bar. Even separate input 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.
I think Peter Gannon's "preview" is his way of saying "plays the chord", so I think he does mean what I also think you mean.
I guess you know that you can play from the selected bar by pressing the "space" bar. That will play the music in context, rather than just the chord, so it is different from what you ask, but it will play all the chords.

hi.
I want to play each chord by myself with shift+enter in bar.
That would be nice. You’ve done a good job bringing this idea to everyone’s attention. Although I gave a workaround, the ability to preview any chord in any position is important and there is work still to do to make microchords more intuitive.

Now, BIAB can play enter shift ctrl to play the second and fourth chords. This is good news. However, it is not yet possible to directly place 4 or 8 chords in each bar.
They may enable you to enter 4 separate chords in the chord sheet in the future as above. They said they were going to allow chords to be entered in the Track view and Audio Edit window.
They said they were going to allow chords to be entered in the Track view and Audio Edit window.
I don't understand that.
At present, you enter the chords using the Chord Chart. My understanding is that you would be able to enter chords from other views beside the Chord Chart. Hopefully, you can type them in from within the Tracks View or the Audio Edit Window view. At least that is what I think the intention is.

ok! However, I can't use "enter shift" to make chords sound in the Track view and Audio Edit window
Aren’t there several threads going with the same idea?
Unfortunately, yes.
... and I think that cross-posting may well be a discouragement to read and digest the content. The same poster and the same subject comes up over and over and many people will just walk away.
