This is a cautionary tale of sliding into addiction.
But paradoxically it has an upbeat Celtic style as I have much of that in my ancestry according to my DNA.
Quite difficult to sing because of the amount of words in a line but cutting them isn't an option.
I did wonder whether a vocal outro should be used over the playout.

Hey there Vic. I love the Celtic feel of this melody. You pulled it off well. I always seem to use too many words as well, but I thought it sounded really good here. I also like the idea of a vocal outro. I sure like your stuff,

Not my favorite genre, but I like your song and it indeed has a nice Celtic vibe.
I don't think there are too many words, the (fast) vocal rhythm works quite well for this kind of song.
I wouldn't change the outro.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

A great Celtic sound Vic, great write. And a good warning message for young folk.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

VERY cool Vic. There're some difference between what's written & sung that'd be nice to clarify as those couple of spots caused me to lose focus as I was reading/listening.
Lots of classic connections with Steeleye Span and the large contingent of folk rock with Celtic flavour out there.
have you listened to the early albums of Horslips? A fabulous concoction that went from pure trad to borrowed airs to an almost Celtic prog wonder.

Cheers

"...sliding into addiction" is more likely the time the addict is most upbeat --hence this stye is most appropriate. The dirge comes toward the end. I really really like this, Vic. Man, those lyrics are so fine, and I really enjoy the melody. You surround it all with a great catch of instrumentation and wrap it in an engaging mix. You rapped your way through those lyrics with apparent ease.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks Brad. Normally I'd strip it down but I liked the rush of it all. I'll think on the outro.

Vic,

Took me a second to get the feel for the Celtic vibe, but once the vocals kicked in I was all aboard—it works great as the vehicle for this tune. I don’t find it too wordy at all and I think you’ve done a great job on the vocal. Really like the chorus and that fiddle really pops. I would leave the outro as is, sans any vocal additions. Good stuff!

Best regards,

Deej

Hey Vic,

I love Celtic music, and although I've never attempted it myself I enjoy listening to it.

Great groove, and your vocal really works well here.

Excellent write too.

Well done!

Thanks Ray.
Yes I found one instance now and fixed it but can't find any more at the moment.

I'd not heard Horslips before, but I quite like that kind of hybrid sound.
