Just got back from being away and back to songwriting again. Fired up BIB 2023 and worked up as country a song as I can do. Posted here for insights as to how to do better, hope someone enjoys it.

Nice bass and guitar work.
And I hear a bit of Stephen Stills in your vocals.
Would be nice to have the lyrics to read along with.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Super song Rick.
Great backing band and super vocal.
Nice mix.

"There is no heart that can’t be broken
There is no love that can’t go bad
It’s true that nothing lasts forever
Now memories are all I have have"

Fantastic lyrics. One most all can relate.

Sounds pretty good.
I would suggest a little editing of your vocal to deal with the essing, (there's a little of the old man whistle I've been trying to deal with myself).
Well constructed band .
Your playing gives it more heart and spark.

Cheers

Rick, I like this. A sad song with an up-tempo beat, and I think it works very well. Really liked the cord progression and thought you did a great job of mixing in that piano. It may be just me, but I didn't think the laughter at the beginning added much to, or tied into the song. Some additional background vocals might sound good if well placed. Also, the cymbal shot at the end gave it more of a live feel than a studio recording, which I thought differed from the rest of the song. Just some very small nit's from someone who's opinion doesn't necessarily count for much, so feel free to ignore. This is a good song, good to hear from you again.

Wow,great and interesting reading your posts. Thank you for listening to my song and I agree with 100% of what you all said. The child laugh is something I have put in my music videos at the end, kind of like a signature. I tried it at the begining and I agree it doesn't work for or add to anything.

I had just gotten done reading a bit about song construction and how the first 15 seconds or so of a new listen will determine if the listener sticks around or clicks away (I'm guilty of this myself). I spent 12 years selling cars and later training car salespeople and the same holds true, only the "golden time" was the first 2 min. We have short attention spans and the ability to process huge amounts of data so holding a listener is considered paramount in modern songwriting and I am wanting to know LOTS more about it for sure. If the kids laugh did not have the desired effect then back to the end it goes LOL.

Thank you all for the input, I'll try and get back here more going forward.
Rick

Rick--

Strong write and tune with some solid production elements. You've gotten a few good suggestions above and I don't have anything additional to add in that regards . . . just enjoyed the listen and performance. Very nice work here!

All my best to you,

Deej
