WANNA GO SLOW

when my last love crashed and burned
i walked away with lessons learned
and i've got scars on my heart that still show
step by step i'm moving on
but there's one thing you should know
i'm not afraid of falling in love
i just wanna go slow

my heart isn't ready for the fast track
it needs to work it's way back
so give it just a little more time
   we're doing good so far
   i believe that you are
exactly what it needed to find
   the understanding in your touch
   is telling me you know
i'm not afraid of falling in love
   i just wanna go slow

love that's true and sure
is worth waiting for
so let's take our time as we go
we'll dance the night away
and hold each other close
i'm not afraid of falling in love
i just wanna go slow

my heart isn't ready for the fast track...

Hope you enjoy the listen.

I'm far from an expert in this genre, but if I heard this song on the radio, I would think, 'Of course it's on the radio'.

Yeah, there are probably a million songs that talk about the same topic, but with you it seems so effortless to write a song like this.

'I'm not afraid of falling in love I just wanna go slow' is so relatable.
Vocals, production and mix are (as always) as good as it gets.
I enjoyed it. A lot!

Floyd,

Excellent!

This song is as good or better than anything on country radio today. I can hear any number of artists performing this.

Awesome band and production.

Love it when you come out with new material!

Sounds great! I especially love the internal rhymes (scars/heart, go/slow, etc.) and the harmonies.

As B.D. says, it feels effortless. It tells a story well, with a nice payoff line.

Top notch, as usual. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

W7, or the internet, is working this evening.
LOVE the harmonies.
Really cool arrangement and the drums drive the tune to keep the positivity.
The dynamics you incorporated work a treat.
I'm pleased I was able to hear this after a day of wondering.
Top shelf.

Cheers

Good to see you with a new one, floyd, it's been a while!

Lovely song, so well written as per usual, and your voice is perfect for this type of material. Love the harmonies!

I like the little double shot at 1:46, you used the microchord feature I guess?

Nice one, enjoyed.

That is a good one.

Nice traditional country music. The low end was kinda lite but that doesn't matter since it's a case of personal taste.

I especially enjoyed the way you built the chorus. Nice job on the phrasing.

This is what I wish modern country radio was playing these days! Great job, Floyd, as usual. It checks all the right boxes for what makes a great song IMHO: great vocals; intriguing, well-placed hook; great production; time-honored structure!

Sometime after Bob (rsdean) commented, I made a "correction" to the web page.
Unfortunately, I included a typo in the name of the mp3 (the address that Guenter's post shows).
That seems to be the cause of the warning (a false one, I believe). I code those pages, so I know what is going into them...
Sorry for the inconvenience. I corrected the typo - so I assume the warning will go away. (although I never switched my site from http to https - that might cause some browsers/avp to balk...)
(Guenter - always great to see you!!!!)

Hi Floyd,

the missing "I " in the link was the reason.
Now it works, and how it works!
That is a proper Floyd production. It's a gem.
I enjoyed my multiple listens.

I've missed this VOICE. Masterful writing, too. When floyd jane is on top form, very, very few can ever meet (or come close, even, to) that standard. And this is definitely one of those top level songs. And the way you know just how to narrate a song ... wow. We could all learn so much from you. Hats off.

Floyd, how you can come up with one outstanding song after another is way beyond my comprehension.

Another radio ready song.

Loved it.
