Vic, what an outstanding song. Your younger vocal is really strong on this one. Super instrumentation and mix. I could hear Marty Robbins singing this one.
Loved it.
Unclear if the pianist is a total beginner or a professional jazz player?

Cheers, Marty. I hate the thought of war but I love battle songs. What is that all about?

Hi Mario. Marty Robbins was a king. I did the vocal, originally with me playing the instruments (except drums) Thank you for the great comment.

Vic,
These are some of the best storytelling songwriting lyrics I have ever read or heard.
Ever.
A masterpiece.

Vic,
Great lyrics and a great idea for a song! The story-teller style vocal delivery in the verses is perfect! The fiddle playing throughout really completes the song for me!
Thanks, TB

It sounds good with the upfront mellow and soulful vocals. The mournful fiddle really nails the sorrow of the lyric. Well done ... the three of you! J&B PS I think Ray was alluding to the word "confederate" in the USA context. For many folks it conjures up the Civil War and what it was fought over. But that is likely mitigated by it being the name of a common flower.

Thank you J&B. I learned years ago to sing in a "mournful" voice because my "tuneful" voice didn't work. Somebody told me to work with what I had, not with what I wish I had. Vic

Vic, Well written tune, both lyrically and musically. Vocals + harmony sounds great and overall mix is clear. Easy listen. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.
