Hello everyone! It's been a while since my last visit to our forum. Some of you know I had to deal with something nasty, but it's getting better all the time now. I was even able to make a song again, Completely Lost, https://on.soundcloud.com/7XJKGI also noticed I have a lot to listen to on the forum. You weren't waiting... There is no particular story behind this song. I just liked the melody. For the first time I used the drum stems in Logic. Think I will do that more often. Marty had a listen too and he liked it also. So here it is. Let me know what you think of it. And I promise, I will catch up with you and your songs very soon. Good to have you back, Hans!
Cool opening.
In fact, the whole instrumentation and arrangement is cool. Love the sound you created and the extra from Native Instruments. Slightly unusual but extremely intriguing to my ears. Vocal is excellent.

Now that school is in session, we gotta get that Hansome Hans song done. That was the name of it, right? Hey, I'm glad you're singing again --and singing as if nothing happened, maybe even better. Drums sound good. Not a fan of the bass and synth, but they are so good AND appropriate for this song. I really like the dynamics you incorporate. You haven't lost a thing, Hans. That's completely true.

Hans I hope all is well with you. I like the instrument arrangement. Not too keen on the vocal sound which sounds a little harsh to my ears but that's just my personal preference. Well done.

Hi Scott and Bob, Thanks for your nice replies on the song. I thought it would be a nice thing to start my re-entry on the forum with an unusual intro. I'm glad you liked it! Good to have you back, Hans! Cool opening. In fact, the whole instrumentation and arrangement is cool. Love the sound you created and the extra from Native Instruments. Slightly unusual but extremely intriguing to my ears. Vocal is excellent. Well, Scott, you made me proud with your words... Hans, This is an EXCELLENT song! Love the melody and tracks. What a great sound! Your vocal is awesome - one of your best. Loved everything about this!
Bob Bob, you did the same as Scott achieved with his words... I'm glad this is what my song did (to you). I was hesitating a bit about the electronic bass and synth I used, but not anymore :-) Thanks and have a nice day, Hans

Wow, I never have to be disappointed after hearing your new tune. This is very captivating, I really like that string sound and arrangement. Intro is very cool, the rhythm is mysterious like the dancing girl of the story, reminding me of the movie Black Swan. That spoken word part is very cleverly arranged, also drum hit parts hit home. Excellent vocal delivery, I'm glad to hear your voice is sounding as good as ever. Maybe the guitar ending was bit standard sounding, but otherwise this exceeded my expectations. Great work, I really appreciate the amount of work you put into all of your arrangements.

Hello Hans. A friend of mine - going way back to about 1967 - took a trip to your country this month. His father is Dutch and his brother Dutch/Indonesian. He loved his visit & cycled everywhere - odd given he is a classic "petrol head". The intro of this song is intriguing. I REALLY enjoyed your spoken sections - love the timbre of your voice. The dynamic changes for Hoping, wishing worked really well. Good to have you back.
Cheers rayc "What's so funny about peace, love & understanding?" - N.Lowe

Hello Dave and Marty, Thanks for your very nice comments. It's good to be back, I missed it. But it still isn't easy. Have to learn a lot. But the music stays in my head. Yours too! Very different!
Pretty cool, Hans, has some nice moments. Love your vocal especially.
Good to see you back! Dave, I am a bit curious if you liked the solo. I bet you don't :-)) I always think of you when I work on a solo... Thanks a lot! Marty, you are so funny. Handsome is not the case at this moment. And of course I regret a lot that I used a bass (mistreated by Melodyne) and also a bass loop from Native I mishandled and tortured to play my thing without consulting you! And yes, while I nearly couldn't move two things helped me; your mails and thinking of making songs again. Well, it worked! Thanks for that, Marty. One day, we'll make a song together, I'm sure! Nice day, Hans

Wow, Hans, welcome back! We’re so glad to hear your voice again and you sound great…and still remind us of John! You are a master of dynamics and of cool arrangements. The intro had us envisioning a dance club on the second listen and Janice said she could see the girl dancing with complete abandon. We agree with others on the effectiveness of the spoken word parts. The mix too is ace. We enjoyed it and are so happy that you are back and better than ever! J&B

Hans, #1 - I am glad you are recovering well and onboard!
Fun off-beat tune. A colorful tapestry of instruments and sounds that go well together. Ace vocals and mix. Complex, yet listens well. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

Hi Vic, I survived the last couple of moths. Thanks for asking. They were like hell I wish I could improve the vocals the way you like them to be, but there is a problem: I don't hear that. Hans I hope all is well with you. I like the instrument arrangement. Not too keen on the vocal sound which sounds a little harsh to my ears but that's just my personal preference. Well done.
Vic Vic, as I said I don't hear the harshness you talked about. That makes it a bit difficult to alter settings. I looked at the plug-ins I used on the vocals (almost none, only NI compressor, reverb and delay) on the track and further in the mix a tape-streamer for some low end and them Ozone 11 for mastering. And in there I had the eq settings to Warm, detail. Oh, and I used a DS-er, because some sibilance did occur. So, sorry to hear you hear harshness that I don't. But I am very glad you liked the song/arrangements! Thanks, Hans

Janne Janne, you are spoiling me with al those nice compliments. Thanks a lot for them! Yes my voice is on it's way back, but some other problems won't. Maybe later. And funny you mentioned the somewhat old fashioned way I ended the song. I was hesitating for doing that in the composing process. The reason I chose for doing it after all was simple. I liked the guitar, the end was quick and there was nothing more to sing about. And I added some guitar touches with loud kicks just before that ending. So, enough effects... ;-) Hans

I remember my sister and her husband came to my country. He is an Australian. He was very amazed by all the bicycles in the streets. He couldn't figure out how someone can possibly find back his/her parked bike. They were parked everywhere. And then they went biking. Within some days the did the same as everyone here. Queen made a song about bicycles, so I can't. That's why I made this song about dancing in a park and what it can do to you if you watch it. You get completely lost... And you are the first mentioning those dynamic changes. I added them a day after I thought the song was finished. But I was glad too to get back. They were bad days, never expected that. So thanks for your lovely comment, Hans
