Most yammie modules that have the general midi soundset (XG) will sound at least as good as the card, and probably much better. Not familiar with that particular model you mentioned though. You should be able to connect a USB-MIDI convertor and run the module from BiaB/PT. Audio tracks would then be coming from a second device, do you have a mixer to make things convenient?
Is Win7 going to be on a new machine? If so you would need to make sure you get PCI slots to even consider using the old card, but I bet drivers will be a long time coming (could be wrong).
You may want to stick with XP for a while yet...
