I've had to stay with older Operating Systems in order for my stuff to be compatible. First started with Win98 and all the software and hardware that I'd invested in that was not compat with XP. Eventually, though, I had to "bite the bullet" and set up an XP DAW in which *some* of my hard-earned money investment had to go away.

BUT - the upside of that was a good thing in the long run.

Yes, purchase of an older Yammy full-fledged MIDI hardware module might just be the ticket for you now.

Another route to consider -- I have noticed over the years that the biggest hurdle to overcoming a new (to me) MIDI solution is actually located between my own ears. Once I take the plunge to a different solution, it generally takes but a week or so of listening to the new one and I adapt to the point where I don't necessarily like "old faithful" anymore. YMMV
