Hi all,
Here's a folk ballad.
Thierry Fraisse is the singer.
https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/ballad-in-e-minor-with-thierry-fraisse

On this ballad in E minor
I don't know why I am crying
It’s not what I was looking for
I let flow with no repressing
I just let flow as it’s coming

Did someone put a spell on me?
Does my body just try to speak?
I listen to religiously
Yet this music is not mystic!

On this ballad in E minor
I know Lord’s voice isn’t present
This melody has something more
That I receive like a present
Straight to my heart this tune was sent

RT 3113 Nylon Guitar
RT 3380 Mandolin
RT 1593 Fiddle

Christian,

This is a very good song. The backing tracks are perfect for the song. And Thierry's voice is excellent. I enjoyed my listen very much.

Wishing you the best,

Alan

Thanks Alan,
I didn't know if my english lyrics were right and Thierry didn't know if his accent was acceptable.

Chris,

The English lyric is close enough that there is no confusion about the story. I would say it's 85 - 90% accurate. And Thierry's accent is fine. I could understand him without reading the lyric.

You did good work on this song!

Alan

Christian, well, you and Thierry certainly conveyed Sadness with a capital "S"! Perfectly natural sounding band, and mixed nicely. The vocals are recorded and placed nicely, too. I wouldn't worry about perfection in the English lyrics or vocals, you've effectively conveyed your intent (I think) with a perfect amount of imperfection. So...well done!

Chris and Thierry you both did a fantastic job on this song.
I thought the English was very good.
The mix was excellent.
You both should be very proud of this one.

Chris,

Your French chansons are always wonderful.
I am immediately drawn to the simple and melancholy melody.
The accompaniment is also really perfect for the song.
I prefer the French version, but this is also good.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks DC Ron, Mario and Shigeki,
This song isn't so sad.
It just expresses the huge emotion that a music can convey .

Hi Chris,

This is how a French chanson sounds!
And I like that a lot. It's almost a pitty it is sung in English.
But Aznavour did the same (sometimes) and became famous.

It sounds like a very sad song, but one with a big wink in it. And of course that tear...
Thierry sings it very nice and sensitive, who wouldn't shed a tear then?
Even in E minor...

I liked that guitarplay with the nylon acoustic a lot.
And then the violin/fiddle came in... Yes, a real French chanson!

Hans

Love the passion in this ballad, Chris, and Thierry Fraisse presents it so well. Music is the Universal Language and this is fine proof of that.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Beautifully and passionately sung. Lovely melody and instrumentation. Is this an original composition or a old folk song? It has an old feel to it.

Well, there's goes my standard excuse of "I don't speak French, so I can't talk about the lyrics." wink

This is, in fact, E minor - the saddest of all keys. No wonder you're crying.

Nice! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks David,
In this case, music proves that crying is not really a sign of sadness but a sign of strong emotion!
