I bought Mac Pro BIAB version a week ago.
I like it except for I dont need any sort of MIDI related content and want more realtrack and styles but only in certain Categories.
Is one option to somehow upgrade from 2023 pro to ultrapak? thought it seems a bit confusing on the website. Its kind of expensive and huge and theres a lot in there I WON'T use and my external drive might not fit the full ultrapak anyway.
So is there other options to just get the realtracks and styles packs I only want? or will they work only work on the ultra?
In my current Category listing I see the only ones I want is Pop/Rock/Blues styles and related required realtracks and not anything thats midi as i said before
So I dont want anything more in the Jazz, Country, Bluegrass, Classical styles
Thanks for listening.
appreciate it.

Hello Shaneblyth,

The answer is the same for both the Windows and Macintosh versions of Band-in-a-Box (BiaB). You have two options when adding additional content, purchase individual +++ RealTrack Sets +++ or upgrade to a different package.

Just so we have a baseline to work from note the Pro PAK you purchased has about 1/10th the content available when purchasing an Ultra PAK or Audiophile package. The Mega PAK has about 1/3rd the content available when purchasing an Ultra PAK or Audiophile package.

Also be aware the Pro PAK and Mega PAK does not include any RealTrack sets. Pro PAK and Mega PAK RealTracks are individual RealTracks combined into RealTrack "bands". The band RealTracks are pulled out of RealTrack Sets

You indicate you want RealTracks that are in Pop, Rock and Blues genres. PG Music combines Pop and Rock into one category. There are 19 Pop/Rock sets and each Macintosh RealTrack set presently costs $79 US so your total cost to purchase the 19 sets is 19 X $79 or $1,501 US. There are no Blues RealTrack Set category so you would need to look through the Jazz and Country categories to see if there are any sets you might want.

You can upgrade from the 2023 Macintosh Pro PAK to the 2023 Macintosh Ultra PAK for $279. Since the 2023 Macintosh Ultra PAK includes all available content you are assured of obtaining all the RealTracks you desire.

When you use the download from your electronic account option, multiple RealTrack sets are bundled into one download file. Download the bundle files for sets you want, once each bundle file is installed then you can delete the RealTrack sets you don't want.

PG Music also offers the Ultra PAK on an external hard drive for a small (about $25 US) fee. Run the program from the hard drive so your internal drive doesn't fill up.

Also note, PG Music should release 2024 for Mac sometime this year. PG Music normally offers set and package updates and upgrades at a significant discount when the new product is first released.

I first started with a Pro PAK and consider it a good investment. Since the program is the same across all packages you can spend your time learning the program and then upgrade once you are comfortable with the program.

Wow what an incredible reply!
Thanks so much, your level of detail and clarity is to be praised.
So seems like realistically the full upgrade is the smart move and waiting, as I'm in no mad rush, for the 2024 release would make a lot of sense.
The only thing I'm not quite getting is this
"Also be aware the Pro PAK and Mega PAK does not include any RealTrack sets. Pro PAK and Mega PAK RealTracks are individual RealTracks combined into RealTrack "bands". The band RealTracks are pulled out of RealTrack Sets" but it seems important though I'm not sure why exactly but as the UltraPak seems like the only sane option technically I probably don't really need to know.
Im in the throws of getting the Fantom 07 integrated properly. Got it to recognise a chord and put it in the chord sheet screen , I've managed to get some XML files out of ireal pro so it imports the chords but it seems to miss the codas etc there's a lot to learn but at least i know complex chords and song structure already so I'm a head of a lot of newbies.
Thanks again
cheers
Shane

The idea of RealTrack Bands versus RealTrack sets is confusing at first but it makes sense once you look at it a little deeper.

A typical pop band might have drums, electric bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and piano. What PG Music does is use a piano from one RealTrack set, guitars from two other RealTrack sets, drums from a RealDrums set and bass from a RealTrack set. All total the five RealTrack instruments are from five RealTrack sets.

Some members of the band likely will switch instruments between songs. For the next song the electric bass may change to an acoustic bass, acoustic piano to a funky clavichord, drums from sticks to brushes and so on. To PG Music that require a different bunch of RealTracks. PG Music will combine another five RealTracks from five RealTrack sets to form the new band.

Some users list what RealTracks they use to create the songs they link to in the User Showcase. Most of the time each individual instrument will come from different RealTrack sets. Each song likely has a unique RealTrack "band".
