This is exactly how I do things, too.

I use BIAB to create and assemble potential audio/MIDI material. BIAB is where my song goes from being an idea into something much more substantial. Since BIAB introduced partial regeneration, I also go through each of the generated Realtracks in my arrangement and regenerate sections (where needed) to obtain the most aurally satisfying sound.

Then, when I have the audio/MIDI files I need, I take them into Reaper and start assembling a proper arrangement.
