I used BIAB during early COVID, but haven't for the past 2+ years, so of course I forgot everything.
I just entered an 86-bar song that I want to go through only ONCE. (On the line after the title, I entered "1 - 86 - 1" in the appropriate spaces.) However, BIAB keeps playing the song with repeats and alternate endings, as if it were an AABA form. It isn't an AABA form; it's more like ABABBA. How can I make the program simply play the song as entered, with no repeats or other modifications?
Thank you,
Forgetful Ken

Hi Ken,

If you have Start = 1, bars = 86 and choruses = 1... that's telling BIAB that you want a song that starts at bar 1 and at bar 86, BIAB will add it's own 2-bar ending. The number of choruses indicates that you want BIAB to play through the whole song just one time.

There is another setting called "Loop" that sounds like it might be set. I access this feature via the standard view. Make sure the "Never loop entire song" is active. If you are in full-screen view, CTRL+T will toggle you between full-screen and standard views.

So, I found out that if you UNFOLD to one chorus, it's much, much easier to get it to do exactly what you want it to do.

If you leave it in it's default mode (folded with repeats) it's going to be a pain to work with.

EDIT>SONG FORM> UNFOLD and then simply edit it to do what you want.... one linear form....start to finish with no repeats.

Being formally trained.... I tried to use the musical road signs but quickly realized the unfolded form was so much easier. In addition, you can start anywhere in the song and know exactly where you are at any point. No more guessing is this the second or third verse?

I think we need more specifics on what you are hearing to know which of the above is the right remedy. In theory you did it right, using 1 86 1, so I also wonder if you just have it set to loop. But tell us more.

From what I can tell, this is not an Unfold Song related issue as discussed elsewhere here. There is only one chorus (single play through the entire song).
Unfolding this shouldn't make any difference. In fact if you try to Unfold, you'll get this message:

Thank you Noel96, Guitarhacker, Matt Finley, and Audio Track. First I checked all settings suggested, and everything seemed to be okay. So then I played it through (at triple speed), AND THE SONG JUST PLAYED THROUGH ONCE!. So I'm wondering if I simply had to re-start the program for my form changes to take effect? Anyway, this problem seems to be resolved. Another question: Is there a way to defeat the extra two bars that automatically get added to the ending?
Again, thanks, guys!

In Song Settings ( <Ctrl>N ), uncheck this value:

Very good.

In cases like these, in the absence of anything that explains it better, I just blame sunspots. 😎
