Hard To Say Goodbye

A new one from me and Leon.

Vocal & Lyric - Leon
I played guitar and sang.

The Band:
RealTracks in style: ~683:Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotesPush Ev 120
RealTracks in style: ~686:Organ, B3, Background Pop Ev 120
RealTracks in style: 1259:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopShiningRockA-B Ev 120
RealTracks in style: 1681:Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 120
RealDrums in style:PraiseWorshipPowerPush^1-a:Quarter Kick , b:Pushed Snare, Hihat

Hard To Say Goodbye
It’s hard – to say goodbye
It’s hard – to say goodbye
It’s easy to pretend
This day will never end
But it’s hard – to say goodbye
It’s easy – for a bird to fly
Feel right at home up in the sky
But it’s hard to let you go
So hard to let you go
It’s easy – for a bird to fly
Wish we could feel like this forever
Wish we could feel like this forever
It’s hard – to keep it real
All these emotions to conceal
It’s easy to lose control
Pour out what’s in my soul
But it’s hard – to keep it real
Wish we could feel like this forever
[Solo]

It’s hard – to say goodbye
It’s hard – to say goodbye
It’s easy to believe
There is no need to leave
But it’s hard – to say goodbye
it’s so hard – to say goodbye
Wish we could feel like this forever
Wish we could feel like this forever
It’s hard – to keep it real
All these emotions to conceal
It’s easy to lose control
Pour out what’s in my soul
But it’s hard – to keep it real
Wish we could feel like this forever
[Outro]

Peter and Leon:

Nice welcoming sounds on the open . . . engaging from the start. Like the vocal and harmonies . . . though I wonder if the lead vocal is a bit too far out in front. Listening on headphones, so maybe not. Like the song structure . . Hmm, who is singing the BGVs? They are well done. Like the lead guitar a lot. Cool 60's vibe on this one . . . liking that organ a lot--nice production choice.

Good work!

Peter,

The reason I asked about the BGVs is that it sounds like a different singer than the lead. That's a good thing, and hard to do as a single vocalist. It's one thing I strive for when, as a solo singer with no other vocal resources, I feel there's a need to make the BGVs sound different. You've done it well here, as evidenced by my asking the question. Stellar!

Deej

Hi, Peter and Leon.

I'm with Deej - the jangely guitar and wistful vocals gives this a 60's sound, despite the other more contemporary elements.

Vocals are great, good backing and mix. Love the bridge.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Cool song & performances.
There's is something in Leon's voice that is a little harsh...I wonder if it could be smoothed with EQ?
I like the blend with the bvox.

Cheers

Very cool song that could have been a Dylan outtake from the '60s. Love the vocals and harmonies, and those guitar breaks are fabulous. Super mix, too. Just a rock solid tune, well delivered.

Good song, good choice of instruments in a nice arrangement.
But the best thing is what you guys did, the vocals/harmonies and guitar playing.
I love that!

Great song and I love the acoustic guitar that ripples through the whole thing. I also like to hear solo guitar breaks as in this as they add to the dynamic of the whole piece.

The dynamic duo strikes again.
Leon, great vocal and lyrics.
Peter, great guitar and harmonies.
A flashback to the 60's.
Super song.

Hi Peter and Leon,

Nice to hear this song of yours. The vocals fit together very nicely, as some colleagues here also think.
The lyrics are also nice to hear/read. Like them a lot; not 'to say goodbye' of course. That's too difficult, as you pointed out very well!

As far as I can remember, it's been a while since you last sang together, or am I wrong?
If I'm right, I'm glad you're back! If I'm wrong, sorry, but also glad to hear you both again,

Hans

Good to hear a new one from you two!

Read through the other comments while listening, for my tastes Leons vocal is sitting right where it should. It sounds like you are using a bit more reverb on it than you have in the past, and I think it really works well.

Good song, great playing. Only complaint was the fadeout ending, seemed a little abrupt.

Great to hear Leon! Been a while.
Good tracks - strong BAND. Sounds like a tight band that knows how to lay tracks. ("we don't need outside guys in the studio!...")
The BGVs throughout are nice.
Good mix.

Nice!

Good song gentlemen. I agree with all here regarding the vocals, they came out very well. It also has a real catchy melody that leaves you humming it long after the song is over. It may have just been my system, but the very end sounded a little cold, like it need a bit more fading. Great song guys.

Splendid feel and I love the harmony. Terrific vocals, and a well-crafted song, Peter & Leon. Ooo. I was waiting for that guitar solo. You never disappoint, and I love the fade spoken by 6-strings. Mix is excellent. Much enjoyed!!

Enjoy whatever happens!
