Today I tried to use the Jukebox like I did long ago. The idea was to preview some styles + chord progressions written some time ago. I wanted to play a few songs (some 20?) in the same directory.
But... it simply does not work! The jukebox only plays the 1st song in the folder. Or a random song in the folder. There is no way to go to the next song (random or not) and there is no way to move to the next or previous song. It works... for 1 song. If I tick the option to play randomly the songs in the folder, it picks one and it plays it... no way to play the next or to advance manually to the next. All songs in the folder seem to work... once. Then the jukebox stops.
I am 100% sure I've used this feature in the past, and it worked as intended. I am not forcing to play files with melody (but most of my files do have melodies). My files play perfectly, but only the 1st plays in the jukebox.
In case it helps I've got the Audiophile version. Perhaps the procedure to render tracks is different and does not work for some reason with the Jukebox. Is there something I could try to preview songs using Jukebox? (I mean, without the need to render manually every time I want to play a song, I don't need jukebox for this). Did anybody notice this?
So I understand the answer is "No, it does not work nowadays, the 3 icons and 3 menu items are there just to remind you that the functionality was once available and it might be available again in a future version".
I'll try the 2 alternatives when I overcome this frustration.
I agree. And your ideas are particularly handy to overcome BiaB limitations in quite a few areas. Which illustrates what could be done with the concept and the recordings, probably (as someone says) recoding software from scratch.
But it is so frustrating when a software with serious limitations fixes one bug and breaks something else. Particularly at the moment you think the feature is available.
I do not have any feeling of entitlement, but I don't like the situation. Not today. Today I just changed my mind and dedicated my day to other type of music that does not need BiaB.
Confirmed. No prior or post songs played and even a bit worse, It froze BIAB and I had to exit the program. I am not aware of this ever being reported with BIAB2024.
Last year I managed to get it working again. I had to remove a lot of unnecessary things, but even today it works perfectly, random or not, as an audiophile without problem. But I had spent a few hours there since no one cared. I just relaunched it in a Songs directory of 3000 songs, it works perfectly.

What do you mean by "I HAD TO remove unnecessary things"? I am in W10, 64, Audiophile, everything works, after fresh windows restart (something I only do every 2 or 3 months), not an issue before, many options in the jukebox checked / uncheked, trying to play my "2024" directory with just 12 or 15 draft songs. I can open the first, then nothing.
In fact all those "peculiarities" that made using a fuction always a sort of R&D project made me skip the latest version of Biab. I also would be fond of the Jukebox function to work and was frustrated wasting time instead of playing along with the songs... Maybe PG should de-implement functions that do not work - or fix it quickly as not to bug users with false pretenses and building up their hopes for a useful feature.
Cheers Stefan

And also, when and if it's working, why is there a limitation requiring to have all jukebox songs in the same directory?
I should be just be some basic programming to work out sub directories. The song picker can find the songs in sub directories so it can't be that hard or ...
Tried 3 times -all midi ==> works -mixed ==> plays one and stops -mixed ==> works correct
Test 2 and 3 was the same directory
I've just tried in folders with mixed, all MIDI and audio. Does not work, not a single time randomly. I moved a directory with only 2 MIDI songs to folder c:/bb/songs/ . Does not work either. Whatever is triggering this behaviour, in my case it is not random. Thanks.

The Jukebox is working perfectly for me. I can skip back and forward between songs or let it automatically play the next song, and it plays both in order or random, no issues whatsoever. Doesn't seem to matter if it's all-Realtracks, all MIDI, or a combination.
What version of BIAB are you using? Do you have the latest patch installed? If possible, could you zip your song folder and send it to us at support@pgmusic.com so we can try it out with your songs? Same for the rest of you who have had any issues with the Jukebox.

This is what we endeavor to do - however, in this case it is working for us and for many other users. To date, I don't believe anyone has sent us their song files, so we have been unable to duplicate the problem.

@ Simon Thanks for responding. Latest version, latest patch (V. 1111, "no updates available"), Audiophile. W10. Jukebox does not work with either MIDI or Real Tracks, on any directory with songs, with 2.....50 songs, all of them working normally in BiaB (or BiaB VST plug-in). And I know for a fact that Jukebox worked some time ago because I used it normally.
Perhaps when other users (not necessarily all) are reporting that it worked and it stop working, perhaps there is something broken.
Other functions in BiaB are working normally. In my case I have to keep installation of BiaB in one drive an all RT and Real Drums in a different drive (As recommended for Audiophile users!), but out of this my configuration is normal. I'll reach support in the weekend. Thanks.

Have you tried returning to factory settings? You can do that from the Options menu, third item from the top - see if that helps at all. "Return most" should be sufficient.

I agree that there is something to address here - however, we need to identify the problem before we can fix it.

Perfect - I'll test the jukebox with your files as soon as I get my hands on them. To anyone else experiencing this problem, please zip your folder of songs and email it to support@pgmusic.com attn me, and I will test those too.
As I said, the Jukebox failure happens with any directory, simple or complex, any songs with melody or not, MIDI or audio. For example try G:\bb\Songs and Lessons\50SONGS (Comes with the installation, 50 old BiaB songs apparently created in 1991 !)
I tried to use default preferences. I have very little options, my configuration is almost standard. When recovering my configuration I had a momentarily crash, and I had some trouble recovering my original configuration. Another bug that cost some time. Life is too short to try to understand this new issue.
But then the jukebox worked! As I said I use only a few non-default options, so I suspected that I am in a better position than PG Music to identify what does not work in BiaB faster. I tried 2 or 3 simple things that should NOT be related. But at the 3rd or 4th attempt...
It is this, believe it or not (see figure).
If I enable "write chords to track" (something really useful to import songs into Reaper using advanced scripts), the jukebox does not work. If I disable the option it works. It is totally systematic in my case. Does not matter which directory, MIDI old styles from the 90's or latest. Larger or smaller directories. This is (in my configuration) what makes the difference.
