Lately I've been getting this error that stops me from saving RB files. This usually occurs when a make changes to existing RB files (changing volumes, changing MIDI instruments, reverb...actually any changes at all). When I then go and hit "SAVE", I get this error. Even if I try to do a "SAVE AS" I still get this error.
Sometimes if I close RB completely and reopen it, I can then save the modified file. At other times, I still get this error.
Why is RB creating temporary files? Where are they being stored?
Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this?
Here is the complete error window:
ERROR Unsupported File Extension (.TMP) File Not Saved!
1.check your win temp fo!der size. 2..note...check in rb prefs that you dont allow a ton of backups ? they might be chewing up disc space and you have lots of old ones you dont need anymore ?
as f ar as i understand it rb uses tmp files to do its thing... maybe over time old ones have built up...
thats all i got...i dont get this error....has anything changed on your pc recently ?? another guess...maybe its time for a house clean of old stuff. i do this occasionally.

my songs....mixed for good earbuds...(fyi..my vocs on all songs..) https://soundcloud.com/alfsongs (90 songs created useing bb/rb.)
Thanks guys, appreciate the comments. The strange thing is, I don't have any audio files, I'm MIDI exclusively. Would RB still be putting backup MIDI files in the Audio backup location?
You're are right! There are two backup directories.
One for Audio (Audio Temporary Directory) and another for automatic file backups (RBBackup). The RBBACKUP directory automatically saves any change you make to RB files and saves then as *.BKS files. The size of this directory and the number of backups per song can be changed in the Preferences settings. Once the maximum number of files in that directory is hit, older files are supposed to be deleted and moved over to the Recycle Bin. Not sure this is happening correctly. Nonetheless, clearing out the RBBACK directory solved my problem and I no longer get the *TMP error.
Yeah, I limit backups and point them to a seldom used drive. That said, they have saved a project or two at times .. unsolvable problem:revert to last version (load backup) .. all good. Seen that happen enough times.
To open one you have to go to Open-Special .. then it will allow browsing for backup (BKS) files.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
A .TMP file may be created when saving a file and then renamed to .SEQ after the save has actually completed. Not sure why that error would occur, unless maybe the drive was completely full and the file couldn't be saved.
