Anyone else getting this Exception Error? PG support tried hard to resolve this for me; said there was a spike in users reporting this and would likely require a patch to fix.

I think the error is in the interface or mysetup files because it's not saving my mixer settings for "untitled Song" on startup We did try deleting and regenerating those files but that didn't work. I think BIAB is looking for a setup file in the wrong place - or my saved changes are going to the wrong location . . .
I'm running the program with the minimal setup on the laptop (Win11 and Biab2024) and everything else running from the BIAB SSD via usb-c.

The program works fine once I dismiss the error message but I have to re-set a bunch of settings and it would be nice to find the solution . . .

If it occurs on program startup, (which from the address value I suspect it does), try this:

A: Open the BIAB Preferences folder (eg C:\bb\Preferences if you are running from C: drive)
B: Create a blank text file with the name NoSplashScreen.txt (you can use notepad to do this)
C: Try again.

Let us know if this resolves.

Ok, I'll try that because I've been having this pop up on and off for awhile now. Never reported it though.

The PG Music support people must not communicate with each other very often. I learned about that fix recently - from a PG Music staff member.

Pleased to know that you got it resolved. Could you open your original post and mark it Resolved (there's a button for that). This can assist others in future - especially as there 'was a spike in users reporting this'. wink

I have the distinct impression that some work from home at least some of the time.
Less or no opportunity to just turn round and ask someone.

They may have a database to which to refer, but one still has to ask the right question and find a right answer.
A bit like reddit, now I think about it. laugh

I was in a chat session with PG Music support today and mentioned the problem. He told me to submit the issue to support@pgmusic.com, which I did and included the generated error file.

I'm not sure if I'm following correctly. The fix for the A/V Exception Error that the O/P has described, by creating the blank text file in the \bb\Preferences\ folder. The one referred to above in this same thread:
https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=815096#Post815096

This was the fix that Blake from PG Music suggested when user Sid S reported the exact same error just last month:

Got it. Thanks, Trevor.

If I understand correctly, another way to say this is that people who do not get the exception error do not need to do anything.

Correct. It simply stops the splash screen from being displayed and can be used on computers that have issues with video transparency thus causing the A/V.

This seems to be a problem that has started recently with no change to Band-in-a-Box. It is not very common, only occurs on a few systems. Perhaps there was a recent driver update for a graphics card, or something along those lines. This issue is #4679 in our tracking system.
To the OP, please email us the full crash log and your computer specs (if you haven't done so already)

Hi Andrew, I totally agree. It's related to a transparency issue with the graphics, and is most probably localized to specific PC's only.

In case the O/P doesn't return, there is more detail of the stack dump at these two posts:
