Anyone using the Vocal Synth? I'm transcribing the notes of the vocal melody(on the Trumpet track, which I'm not using otherwise), with the correct rhythms, etc. Here's the rub: in vocals, there are a lot of slurring pitches in the same syllable. In notation, I would put a slur over these other notes, to be sung with the same syllable.
In Vocal Synth, it seems that if there isn't a lyric entered underneath the note, the note defaults to silence, or a "Na" syllable. How can put slurs over more than one note to show that it should still be the same syllable? To simplify, let's say that I want the syllable "Doo" to stretch over three or four pitches. How do I get that to happen?
Band-in-a-Box® for Windows Version 2025 (1124) 64 bit application RealBand 2025 (1) Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Intel Core i7 4800MQ @ 2.70GHz Haswell 22nm Technology 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
According to the following Sinsy tutorial, if you put a hyphen as the lyric in the note following the one you want to slur, you should achieve what you want.
The voice actually sound close to human to begin with if the timing of the notes is good. Occasionally, I need to adjust some parameters. What I've found is that it's best to have some notes that are not strictly on the beat. The timing offset helps with this. I do this by trying to replicate what I hear when I sing the words. The program is very easy to work with because everything is on display in front you.
I prefer to use the standalone version. There are others on here who like the plugin. What I do is to save the melody as a MIDI file, and then I import it into Synth V. I then create a "work in progress" kind of backing track (WAV) with BIAB and load that into Synth V. Then I just play around with the singer's notes in the program. When I'm happy, I save the vocals as a WAV file and load it into Reaper. I then work on the backing track in Reaper to get it as good as I can.
I'm guessing you'll be surprised at how easy it is to work with. A number people in PG Music's Users Showcase forum have uploaded songs that you can listen to. There's also a Synth V forum that has lots of material.
Also, Synth V is very friendly with BIAB. If you have created a melody with lyrics in BIAB, when it is saved as MIDI it is read into Synth V with the lyrics in place.
A "-" makes a melisma (more than one note for a syllable). A "+" changes syllable elephant + + If to syllables are close to each other in horizontal timeline Synth V will automatically connect the sounds.
Studio One (latest version), Win 11 23H2 , i9 -10940X 3.3 GHz, 32GB Mem, a 4K 40" monitor, PreSonus Studio Live III Console as interface/controller. secondarily test on Reaper, Cakewalk, and S1 on Surface Pro 3 Win 10 (latest versions).
Is all of this customizing available in the plugin in BIAB?
Yes. There is no difference between the controls in the standalone version or the plugin.

If you have a multi-syllable work that's spread over a note for each syllable, you simply type the word in the first not and then us a + sign for each syllable of the other notes. The notes need to be joined together for this to work.
Have a look at the word "Sydney" below. It's two syllables and it's spread across two notes. These notes are joined together (there is no gap between the two of them). The word in full is typed in the first note and then a "+" is used to indicate the note for the second syllable. Why not download the trial version and try it out. It's easy to get the hang of.
