It's All GoodA relaxing Smooth Jazz guitar instrumental. This was a pretty simple hour-and-half project. Track selection was easy as I kept the style's indigenous tracks, except I swapped out the original drum track. Perhaps this sounds a little bit like Mark Knopfler if he played contemporary Smooth Jazz? Alan,
That is some truly outstanding tone you are wringing out of that lead guitar track...
Love the groove and the excellent mix.
Great, great stuff!

Bob Thanks so much, Bob. Glad it was a good listen for you. As far as the tone of the lead guitar, I was trying to get the sound of a Fender Strat with the bridge pickup carrying most of the load, but with the tone set more to the lower EQ - attempting to keep it subdued yet bright. (The natural brightness of the bridge pickup but toned down some searching for the right balance.). Hope that made some sense. Again, Thanks. Alan

Alan, lovely tune, and very, VERY smooth. Like your drum substitution. You've really got a fine ear, that guitar sounds like it's right THERE. Once again, you've proved that you can be more productive in 90 minutes than I can in a full day. Ha! Really enjoyed your tune!

I spent more time on the lead guitar sound than on anything else, so thank you for mentioning that. I've mentioned my recording workflow several times in the past, so I won't bore everyone with it again. But no DAW, no mixer—neanderthal-like but, for me, effective. Also, I probably don't obsess as much as some folks do. I'm that way in my daily life, too. I always appreciate your feedback and comments. Best to you, Alan

Hi, Alan. A relaxing Smooth Jazz guitar instrumental. Exactly as described on the tin. You've got the knack for getting an excellent mix and performance from the band!

The style choice is very smoooooth and relaxing and your solo choices are spot on. Do you use Multiriff to create your BIAB solos?

Dewey HI Dewey, Thanks for the listen and nice comments. I use Multiriff fairly often, but I didn't need it on this one. It behaved pretty good without my intervention. This is one of the easiest songs I've put together in recent months. Everything just fell into place once I replaced the drum kit. Best to you, Alan

Alan, this is as smooth as glass, and that is a compliment Super choice in RTs This reminded me of some of the guitar instrumentals of the1950s and 60s. Great mix Sounded fantastic
Yeah, I've got O.C.D, Old, Cranky, and Dangerous.

Hi, Alan. The title tells me you wrote it, but everything you do is good --at least musically. Perhaps this sounds a little bit like Mark Knopfler if he played contemporary Smooth Jazz? Ha, that's an excellent descrition. Man, I really like the changes, and the way you fill them with such good sound. You can definitely play at Cuban Pete's Lounge. Love that sound, and such a pleasing mix. Saul Goodman.

Mark Knopfler in a smoky jazz bar after midnight ... Yes, that's it. I would probably use a less busy drum kit to make it even smoother, but that's just my personal taste.

We join in with all the previous accolades ... cool production. I was struck by how it had a slight swing feel but all the tracks are EV. Reckon the Bossa drums gave it that. Nice. "As far as the tone of the lead guitar, I was trying to get the sound of a Fender Strat with the bridge pickup carrying most of the load, but with the tone set more to the lower EQ - attempting to keep it subdued yet bright. (The natural brightness of the bridge pickup but toned down some searching for the right balance.). Hope that made some sense." I noticed that it has a DI option. Did you try different amps sims on it? Just wondering. Logic Pro has scores of amps, mics and speakers that I like to experiment with ... even if I've never played electric guitar. Another top notch BiaB production Al. Stellar. J&B

Hi Dan,
Thanks a bunch. Glad you enjoyed it.
Janice & Bud,
Yes, the Bossa drums track contributed to the slight swing perception. As far as the DI in the guitar track, I have no idea how to use it. Plus, I don't use a DAW, so most 3rd party options not included with Audacity and BIAB are beyond my reach. I have both Cakewalk and Studio One but have no idea whatsoever how to use them. The instructions assume you have at least a small amount of recording knowledge - nope, I don't. I just wing it on Audacity. Regarding music, I have no idea what a buss or an envelope is. I've tried multiple times to decipher those 2 DAWs and have gotten nowhere at all. I am probably the most basic user of BIAB there's ever been. I read all the other forums where the participants discuss how to do this and do that, and I have no idea on Earth what they are talking about. It's like I'm a drunk Russian with bad eyesight trying to read Chinese. It's literally that foreign to me. I'm a decent guitar player, a last-resort vocalist, and a so-so lyricist. I neither read nor write notation. Once I put my guitar down, I have no idea what I'm doing musically. I guess I'm fortunate that I just "hear" things musically, and they often turn out okay using my Neanderthal-like methods in conjunction with BIAB & Audacity. rather pathetic, I guess, but that's my music creation life!
But I'm delighted you enjoyed it and I appreciate the suggestions.
Wishing both of you the very best,
Alan
