Hi All,

Here’s something called ROOM 305.

Woke up in the Hotel Earle
Shadows on the walls
Cigarette smoke on the curtains
But they had long since gone
The West 4th subway rolls
The streets unending flow
The city’s relentless tempo
An undercurrent below

Oh New York
Another place and time
Mixed in the rhythm
Mixed in the rhyme
Oh sweet dream
Where the walls comes alive
Smoke and guitars
Tales from 305

Graffiti's bold confessions
A poets silent arc
Rainy sidewalk reflections
Poetry in the dark
Diamonds in the alleys
A Lettera 22
Rusty keys and words
All tangled up in blue

Oh New York
Another place and time
Mixed in the rhythm
Mixed in the rhyme
Oh sweet dream
Where the walls comes alive
Smoke and guitars
Tales from 305

Very nostalgic vibe. You're a really excellent songwriter.

Cool with the tremelo opening, and then in comes your very unique and much loved vocal. A dirge-like piece with high-standard lyrics, and the perfect mix for the listener to enjoy. This sound can describe the feeling of some who walk the streets of the hustle and bustle of NYC with a strong sense of self.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Bob...man you know how to tell a story...I can close my eyes and picture the essence and misery of Room 305...you have a gift for painting pictures with words...I always love your tracks...they contain all the essential elements but never get in the way of your lyrics...another cool song my friend.

Bob, well, there goes ANOTHER beautiful musical mural. Very evocative lyrics, great vocals and a simple/simply perfect backing track. There are some tasty chord choices in there that really add some cool tension/release, and pair up neatly with the lyrics. Nicely done (again)!!

Robert - as a fellow New Yorker, Brooklyn, I LOVED this song ... pure poetry at its best. Your vocals, and backing track captured the gritty, dark nature of a seedy New York Motel room. You painted the image perfectly with light and dark moods and textures. Excellent !!

This has the raw grittiness that was in Springsteen's early work..... I could smell the curtains and feel the rumble of the subway going by.

New York, underbelly, under the poverty line, under the effects of a smoke & booze filled night before.
I can feel the need for aspirin, caffeine, phenacetin and a beer.
It's picture painted in words, sounds and pain.

Poetry, NY, cool instrumentation, very interesting chording, smoky vocals. Unique combination of creativity, you always manage to surprise by building such art from simple elements. "A Lettera 22/Rusty keys and words/All tangled up in blue", sounds like the song was written with that machine in the Hotel Earle.

This is so good, Bob. I think I say that about all your songs, but it's true every time. In my opinion, this is your very best in a long time.

That guitar track hovers over the song, guiding it through the trials of living in NYC's dark side. You simply have a way with words that paint indelible mental images. As a listener, I often feel like a character in your songs - they simply bring me in and rivet me in place. And it's a pleasure to be there.

I don't know how you do it, but every song you post seems to be your best ever, and then you post a new one, and I say the same thing again.

This is a dark passionate song with a story of mystery and intrigue that's impossible to ignore.

You sure know how to write 'em!

Alan

Well, Bob, the imagery is so vivid here that we feel like we should revisit a Dylan documentary to look for you in the crowded room. 😊

Your songs enable us to travel in time and place and we’re richly rewarded every time.

Loved it!

I've noticed you've been expanding your use of instrumentation lately--excellent. You always write darn good lyrics; this time you hit it out of the ballpark--such effective imagery and engaging narrative. The slow drag tempo works well with the mood of the lyrics.

Hi, Bob.

As usual, poetry set to music. You just keep getting better and better with a voice and instruments that suck me into the story.

You can tell a story about a gritty, grimy city like no one else, makes me want to take a shower smile
And that's the mark of a great singer/songwriter, you pull the listener in with just a whisper.
Great job.

Hey Bob very spooky and moody and classic Bob.

You can always tell a Bob Dean song from the rest of the songs! You definitely have a signature sound!

As always I like the poetry and the word smithing on this one.
