Imagine...the late70's, early 80's in a small mid-western town...an old storefront has been converted to an intimate coffee house...there are tables around the room and a small stage at the end of the store...on the stage is a piano player (the writer of this song), a drummer playing a small drum kit, a guy on bass and a young woman playing cello...a single microphone with a stool and an acoustic guitar sit center stage...a young man comes out sits down at the stool...he picks up the guitar...the lights dim...a single spot focuses on the young singer and... https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14814870

Dan,

You really write some beautiful and touching music. This one is no exception. I love what you have done here with the tracks selection and Kevin. The mix is stellar.

Your sister would be very proud...

Dan, this is so very, very moving. Everything is crisply in place and perfectly supports the song. Love your piano and Kevin's tender vocals. So sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing Kathy with us, and for this remembrance.

This is SO beautiful. A stunning, simply arranged, heartfelt "In Memoriam" song. The sincerity of your writing (and the way you've made Kevin sing) shines through. I'm so sorry for your loss.

This is the song of someone who abandons oneself to God's will.

Dan,

As I already mentioned on Facebook, This is Beautiful, sad yet encouraging! It's such a lovely song! The melody and arrangement are exquisite! What a wonderful and true message!
Dan, I understand your reasons for using the synth vocals, but I sure do miss hearing your "real" voice and background harmonies! They were/are the best IMO that have been shared here on the forum! Thanks for an inspirational song and I hope you keep up the great work!

Thanks, TB

Torrey...thank you...I would be recording my own vocals today but something has happened to my voice...I'm hoarse most of the time and I can't hold notes or pitch anymore...I'm 73 so a lot is just ageing and can't seem to find another source for this problem that's been creeping up on me for the last few years...this meant I had also stopped writing...the DMHV's (digitally manipulated human voices) have given me the incentive to begin writing and recording again...I do wish I could roll back the clock and sing again but season's come and go and we adapt or fade into the woodwork...I wish I could sing with my "real" voice again..."someday" I will...Dan

As I was listening, I was thinking, that's a great singer. Nicely done. It had me convinced. Some styles of music just seem to really make a nice fit for certain synth singers.

Beautiful song.

Dan,

What a great song - message, production, etc. Your work with the synth voices is so good. This was a very nice listen.

So sorry fo your sister's passing at such an early age. Di and I can relate. You might already know - if not - we've buried three of our children over the years: 22, 31, and 54 years of age. Our faith and determination to not let our lives basically end because theirs did. there's no uncomfortable place to put those feelings and memories. We just found the least uncomfortable place to put them.

Thanks for such a wonderful song and soothing listen.

Wishing you & yours the very best.

Alan & Di.

PS: We'll both be 78 on our next respective birthdays. My voice is a shadow of what it once was. I used to be a decent baritone. But I had a very serious accident in the early 2000s that injured my larynx and my voice has never been the same. But I have about a dozen recordings of my voice when it was pretty good. They're cover songs, so I can't post them here. But you might be surprised at the significant difference.

That is a beautiful tribute to your sister.

We can easily see why you would want to revisit it.
It was easy for us to envision the performance in the little coffee house just as you eloquently described the scene.

Nice tracks all around, great mix and that piano sounds excellent.
Glad it was available at the coffee house. smile

Well done and again a wonderful tribute song.
