Imagination

Imagine if you will a scenario where you have figured out a song on your guitar. You have the chords and leads down. You bring your chords into Band-in-a-Box and run through some styles. You happened on one that you like but it is 180 degrees away from your original thoughts. That is what happened here so I just let my imagination take over.

BiaB style = Sphere Ambient Sitar and Tabia
Tempo = 40 BPM

I liked all of the RTs so I drag and draped them into my DAW then I did the same with the MIDI version of this style. This is my most adventurous challenge to date.

The RT side - I used all of the RTs

The MIDI side:
I deleted the MIDI drums, percussion, and utility tracks
Bass - Synthmaster2 - preset - BA Bigger Than Ever YY
Piano - Syntronic 2 - preset - Format FM Pad Sweep
Guitar - Polymax - preset - All Chairs

Me - Via my breath and keyboard controller = Engine Player - Forest Kingdon - preset - Native American contrabass flute

Via my keyboard controller = 1 - Brass - Kontakt - Kurt Hunter's Virtuoso - Ensemble Brass
2-Strings - Kontakt - Amadeus Orchestra - Full Strings Ensemble

I am also playing my Kramer Nightrider guitar through a Voodoo effects VSTi

As always all comments are welcomed.

Another evocative, dreamy sousndscape, or is it just ma-ma-ma-'magination? "You bring your chords into Band-in-a-Box and run through some styles. You happened on one that you like but it is 180 degrees away from your original thoughts." As I recently replied to one of your comments, that's also what sometimes happens to me.

Hi, Mario.

It's got a cinematic sound - a bit ominous, like a slow reveal of some monster.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Mario,

This sounds like a beautiful dream... I absolutely love the flute on this. The mix is big and sweeping.

Epic in every way!

Dear Mario,

This is very imaginative indeed and maybe among the top of your most imaginative pieces.

But you are so prolific you make it difficult to decide between epic and epic.

Still this would rank right up there as being one of the most delightful things I've listened to this week.

I had a similar experience with band in a box recently in which it refused to let me do what I wanted to and I had to surrender and let band in a box have its way with me.

Very beautiful work my friend.

I don't know if this is more "Star Wars" or "Conan the Barbarian" but I could easily see either, or maybe a combo of both.

Cool stuff. And yeah, I often have problems finding the right style. You'd think that with the thousands of styles it would be easy.... but nope. So yeah, there's been more than one song that went in a different direction than originally imagined or intended due to finding a style that shifted the perspective.

Nice music.

You're starting to really get a handle on this cinematic music thing.

You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Thanx Bob. Two very different descriptions for the same song. I'm glad that this song evoked different emotions.

Ooh, this is nice! The brass and strings sound GREAT, and make a cool slithering backdrop to the whole fantastical tune. You've got a great compositional ear and a real talent for choosing/arranging/mixing the musical building blocks. Really original and oh SO cool...

Yeah, I'd vote for your imagination to take over the world, Mario. I like how you start the narrative with a nod to Rod Serling. This is another sensational soundscape from one of the most fun imaginations I've ever experienced in music. You work brilliantly like a mad scientist with the talent of thousand muses. The best part is that you listen to them. That makes it much more fun to listen to you creations. This one could be for a high level of meditation where one wakes to a flood of imagination.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanx Marty. I'm glad that you got the Rod Serling intro. I might be the lunatic your looking for but I don't have "the talent of thousand muses", I'm just a hacker having a ton of fun with BiaB.

Hi Mario,

You own the cinematic groove on this forum! You are so dang creative!

I love this big sound with a combination of strength and gentleness. It has passion, excitement, anticipation, and a great delivery on all of it. Although a bit ominous, it still has a settling effect. You're just too good in this genre. Keep up the great work. I always enjoy your posts.
