Hey Dave Bell,

Man I certainly appreciate those kind of words and the listen my brother.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it and I certainly have been enjoying all of your great songs so far this year.

Keep up the great work.

Hey David, great idea for a song and it is particularly timely. I love how you built the dynamics in the production too.

Hi David,

When you wrote those lines about making your song, but also bass players should like it, I started listening to it.
So after my absence in this forum for some time, your song was the first I listened to.
Very good song, David!
I liked that intro a lot. But after that, of course alse everything that followed...
And I liked the lyrics much.
Only one sentence is a bit of a problem; "And I don’t believe anything that anyone says to me".
Do you believe my words???

Have a nice day,
Hans

Thank you Steve!

Well I have no choice but to be a non-conformist. Every time I try to write a conformist song nothing comes out!

Thanks again for the listen and the kind words!

David,

LIke the opening a lot . . . Minor suggestion: I would have liked just a little bit more differentiation in the music bed between V1 and C1. It’s there between V2 and C2, so maybe something to mull and think about, for what little it may be worth. But overall, one of the better mixes I’ve heard from you—really compelling. Like this a lot! Well done!

Very inspired song with grunge & punk attitude and some 80's vibe. Quite different DS, but I'm happy to be surprised. Strong and thoughtful, although why should I believe anything... but I do because I believe anything I can't prove wrong, even contradicting things if that makes any sense smile So I agree, but who says you should believe it wink

Intriguing chord progression and the band supports perfectly, killer bass! Great vocals, I enjoyed those high notes.

David...an interesting song that captures the pessimism of the age in which we live...so I think I choose not to believe that you can't believe in anything...I love the paradox of the belief that you can't or won't believe in anything (ie. anyone or any truth claim) which creates a belief system all its own...but the song is way cool...your vocals are some of your best and I love the drive and the band you used...a "thinker" for sure! or at least that's what I choose to believe about it...

Hey Ray,

Thanks a lot man! I really appreciate your listen and your kind comments!!

smile

(P.S.) The lack of polish is intentional, and part of the "sound."

Thanks Marty! Yeah, I understand the various opinions here for sure.

That bass was panned slightly left for effect, and mainly dramatic effect. I experiment with stuff a lot and rarely follow the rules.

smile

With the rest of the mix, unpolished was the goal.

Glad you liked it!

Really cool lyric. So true these days. I also love Alans quote "This is so non-generic and speaks its truth boldly". I got the Bowie vibe as well. Excellent backtrack to frame your vocal. Really well done David..

Hi, David.

I'm super-late to this party!

   Who says
   I must believe
   What anybody says to me
   I know you must agree

Ha! I love the irony here.

I also love the Police vibes of the opening, although your songs always sound so much more like you than anyone else. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?
