I like to print lead sheets with chords and guitar tabs that I play from. I don't read standard music notation so I don't want to also print notation that takes up a lot of paper space and ink. Is there a way of only printing chords and tabs? And, if possible, compressing the black space between the ledgers?

Thanks for your reply. Gee, I thought you had the solution and you almost did. I did all the settings you showed and the intruding staff lines and notes went away but so did all the tabs. It appears to me that they have the musical notes and the tabs tightly intertwined in the code. You can see both or none but not just the tabs. And unfortunately when you get the notes you also get the ledger lines as well above the tab. But thanks again.

I am afraid you may be correct in your conclusion. I did my best and this is what I could get in regards to TAB. But... you know what, nothing wrong with seeing the proper notations and note names. The notation has never been a strong suite with BIAB.

Well, we tried cry .
Perhaps the Tabs and Notation are linked together internally?

I tried also but I could not separate notation from tabs. But for me I need notation along with tabs otherwise I would not know the duration of the notes. YMMV

Unclear if the pianist is a total beginner or a professional jazz player?

There's a system for showing the duration of notes in tab that's been around since I was a wee young whipper snapper learning tabs from Guitar World and other magazines that had transcriptions.

See the attached screenshot from Go Playalong 4 to see how that works, and also note the part that the arrow is pointing to where you can toggle the display such that it shows only standard notation, only tab, or both simultaneously.

Kind of unrelated, but how do you get the image to display within the body of your post rather than attaching it?

Thanks in advance!

When I started playing guitar there were no tabs. The first note of a lesson had a small number, lets say a 5. That told you you had to play everything in the 5th position!

I had to learn tabs in order to teach them to my students. I always included notation and emphasized notation. Old school yes but notation is the written universal music language. Again YMMV.

After you attach the image and before you press 'Done' just click on the icon as shown to embed it (the text describes the method):
