Hi All, Here's a little something about childhood toys, imagination and dreams… This is called JOHNNY & GERONIMO. I heard that old Geronimo Went looking for a friend He had a pipe full of peace In the wind around the bend He was looking for a sign Or a star in the sky No wagon trains in sight On this clear and moonlit night So ride on Johnny West Ride on through the night Put up old Thunderbolt Just before first light Lay your head down easy So many miles to go No scuffs on your hat Nothing that would show Geronimo kept moving Through the valleys and the plains Memories of battles Echoed in his veins He thought about the people And the land they called home With every step he took He felt the spirit in his bones So ride on Johnny West Ride on through the night Put up old Thunderbolt Just before first light Lay your head down easy So many miles to go No scuffs on your hat Nothing that would show The spirits whispered softly In the rustling of the leaves They told tales of honor Under burned out ancient trees Johnny felt their presence In the silence of the night He knew his path was sacred As he held his reins tight Geronimo found solace In the calm of Johnny’s eyes A silent understanding Beneath those endless skies Together they would journey Through echoes of the past Across dreams of their fathers And the long shadows they cast So ride on Johnny West Ride on through the night Put up old Thunderbolt Just before first light Lay your head down easy So many miles to go No scuffs on your hat Nothing that would show BIAB Tracks: 3786: Bass, Synth, MinimalHipHopHeld 095 3784: Synth, Rhythm, MinimalHipHopGhost Pads 095 1840: Synth Pad, PopModernGrooveMellow 075 0676: Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming FolkRockEighths 085 3250: Guitar, Electric, Soloist ModernFunkBob 110 Loop: Chillout/Chillout - everest_85_bass_a_minor Loop: Chillout/Chillout - autumn_82_drum_loop_e_minor Loop: Drums/FolkModernSw16 RealDrums: ElecRisersHypeTrain As always - thanks for listening! Great lyrics, Robert. I was going to suggest a touch of war drums but I have lost the file. I used it on a track called Geronimo a few years ago. Nice one.

Bob, an excellent song Super vocal and lyrics, great backing band, all mixed to perfection. You are a fantastic story teller.

Hi, Bob.
Well done song. As you say, it's about "childhood toys, imagination and dreams".
It's emotionally hard discovering cultural mythology is a whitewashing of the past. I recall as a young child enjoying the outfits and movies of cowboys and Indians, only to later find the genocidal history hidden behind the stories.
Retelling that mythology doesn't make it less a myth, but it helps change what those stories are about. And sometimes myth is stronger than history.
Nicely done.

Hi Bob,
Nobody tells a story with their music like you do. Although your style is different than his, your ability to make a story come to life reminds me of Tom T. Hall. Like you, he could make taking a sip of water a lyrical masterpiece. I always admire your originality and execution.
You're a treasure to this forum.

Bob, you never fail to surprise and impress. I love everything about this song: great, unique lyrics, mix and dynamics in the flow, plus you really do have a signature voice. You're very much a one-off when it comes to writing original lyrics. Excellent.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #17: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #69: Bring consciousness to it. #74: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #105: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi Bob.
I enjoyed this song, The poetic lyrics transported me back to my own childhood playing cowboys and Indians with my brother Good job.

Oh, man, I love what you do, Bob. Great stories told in the best way. Revealing reality --you're so good at that. The perfect background with just the right choices for accompaniment.

Bob, very touching. Super vocals, and love the BiaB guitar break. Nice instrument choices and cool production. Like whatever you did for the ambience on the acoustic guitar and how it seems to make the vocals stand out.
Not everyone will understand, but...my brother (and lyricist) received Johnny West and Thunderbolt for Christmas, about 1966. Pretty sure he still has them...

Solid production. The music fits in well the nostalgic memories of childhood. This is one of your best vocal performances (imho). I enjoyed this track!

Another song that had me searching for the meaning of reference point. Johnny West the action figure? On that basis this is a wonderful re-imagining of a child's dream. Not sure I'm a fan of the outro guitar but that's fine as the song had worked it's magic by then.
