Many of you here seem to be turning over a new song every week while I can barely get one out every month or so.
Maybe too much indecision or age creeping up on me. Though "Don't go gently into that goodnight" I say.
I managed to (finish) this one today.

Bass - 4446
Drums - Americana sync brushes
Guitars and parts of - 4453, 2533,4056,4023,1119
Synth - 3788

Those Young Old Days

There are memories in this room.
Parties, helium balloons.
Laughter, singing out of tune.
The moon rising through the trees.
Her perfume on the breeze
It's an everlasting tease.
Ch.
I Remember those young, old days
I Remember those young, old days
Bringing back those young, old days
Bringing back those young, old days

Innocent of what things cost
Sometimes loved and sometimes crossed
Philosophical on what was lost.
Brave astronauts or so we seemed
Flying off to chase our dreams
Believing all our wildest schemes
Ch.
Inst.
Br.
Some questions I recall
Like, why are mum and dad so tall?
Why do they they think they know it all?
Ch. & Outro
Bringing back those young, old days
Bringing back those young, old days
Bringing back those good old young old days etc.

Cool title. Your songs always delight and are always worth the wait, Vic. A pleasing mix and the vocal is perfectly placed. Good range and control. I like the melody and the band you hired to play along.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Cool, chugging anthem to the good times. Really nicely done. Those guitars sound nice indeed. Love the shots/holds and the lead guitar lines are woven in quite effectively. My favorite songs are fun to sing along to, and this one is certainly that. Excellent!

Well, I really enjoyed this one, Vic. Beautiful in every way, from the nostalgic, reminiscent lyrics to the excellent band, and, least but certainly not least, your rendition of the song. A nostalgic lyric, superimposed to an upbeat track ... works every time smile . Loved the harmonies at the end. You are a true pro, and it shows. Hats off to you.

Cool song with interesting lyrics
I love how you have juxtaposed two contrasting adjectives “young” and “old” to create a sense of nostalgia.

Just got back to the forum this month after a long absence so this is the first song of yours that I've heard in over a year.
I must say I think that it's one of your best. And, as Marty wrote, it's worth the wait.
Music, lyrics, backing band all blend together really well to deliver a very pleasant listening experience.

Well done.

This is the 3rd song I've listened to on the forum with this theme! Must be something in the air. But I enjoyed everything about this one more than the others. It's a great rhythm and the instrumentation is perfect for it.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi BD.
I can go wrong with just about anything, but thanks for your vote of confidence.
That's probably the reason I take so long over a song. I think I probably remixed this one 8 times since I first posted it. confused

Vic,
bBon took the words i was thinking - almost verbatim as I listened. It's unquestionably my fav from you. Great lyric punctuated with a modern pop country backing. And I sure can relate. The lyric mirrors my growing up years to a near-identical image. This truly is a great song - your best over the many years I've listened to your wonderful songs. Excellent work, Vic!

Funny you should say that about the juxtaposition of the two words.

Good lyric, we especially like this line:
“Brave astronauts or so we seemed
Flying off to chase our dreams”

The band, vocal and mix all sound nice on our monitors.

Well done and we enjoyed it,

I pondered the "astronauts" line as I originally wanted to use " cowboys riding off to chase our dreams"
but I thought astronauts flying would be more suited to todays minds. Can't be many of us left that played at cowboys in our youth. smile

Don't measure yourself against someone else's performance. The only thing that matters is what you are doing and your only competition is that guy in the mirror.
Are you writing each one better than the last one and are you enjoying the journey?

I like this driving country rock feel. Nicely done.

If it matters.... My opinion is as follows. I'd rather write a couple of good songs in a given time frame than to write a lot of songs that are just mediocre.

Cool song and excellent band.
I found the chorus a little unsatisfying because it repeats, though with a phrasing/melody difference, the same idea and doesn't evolve into a solution, movement or change.
It's just me and how I invest in a story when listening. I doubt it'd bother anyone else.
Nevertheless - COOOOL song.
