I love the way you can arrange a country tune so that it's relaxed without being sloppy.
Nice work on the pedal steels and, as usual Janice's vocals shine brilliantly.

Thanks,

Brian.

Thanks for all the kind words. We appreciated the mention of the steel also.

We posted the song first in 2017 so that was the original version as we wrote it that year.

Glad you liked it!

What a lovely country tune. Beautiful vocal. The crying steel was an excellent add. Such a pretty song...

Thank you! It was fun to revisit it and we appreciate all the aspects you mentioned. Love the description of the steel player. And that’s very cool about your cousin. Mark Chestnutt is a fav of ours and the album that inspired us to write this song is a wonderful throwback to the days of the
“Hat Acts.”

Ok, I've been trying to figure out how to say the feeling this gives me.

But first, I want to address something. The forum is always saying Janice is doing this genre, or that genre, and this isn't her regular genre...can I just say it? Janice IS a genre. THAT is the mark of an artist. When they have enough command of their instrument that they can influence any other genre and make it their own. She is a GREAT artist. End of that story.

Now, I believe I remember this song. What I mostly remember is the overall feeling it gave me through the combination of lyric, mix, and performance. They all felt very natural, which I am ALWAYS drawn to. Is it weird to say this totally had the feeling of coming home; but with improvements made to the home? It has all that I loved and brought a certain newness to it as well. This just felt so good.

Thank you for posting it. It was a great memory to visit and this time it was even more vivid. I love how you make all of the elements just work without drawing attention to how masterfully they are presented. I know it's probably been said 10,000 times but you two do really make beautiful music together!

Thanks David. Hmmmm … when we do blues folks think it sounds country - so we do country and it sounds blues - even with a steel. 🤷‍♂️😀😀

Glad you liked it!

Wow! Man, what a wonderful, thoughtful and most supportive review. It's really difficult to thank you enough.
"Janice IS a genre" means so much. Bud always tries to impress upon Janice the versatility and more of her talent.
But she is just SO modest and Bud is SO biased that it is very special for YOU to say that.

So thanks for that and everything you wrote. It's genuinely and hugely appreciated!
