BIAB has nice 2 bar and 4 bar endings for songs in 4/4 time but not in 3/4 time. How come? I have to use fade outs for my 3/4 time song endings - hardly ideal. Without that, there's an abrupt cut out. (I’m running BIAB for Windows 2024.)
It sounds like you set the 3/4 time using Bar Settings (F5) for the number of "beats in this bar".
The best way to set waltz time is to choose a waltz style in Stylepicker. There is a quick filter in Stylepicker (under Time Sig) that will make it much easier to locate the 3/4 styles. These 3/4 styles have 2-bar endings build into them just like the 4/4 styles.
I tried your suggestion, Noel. If I pick one of the BIAB 3/4 styles, there is a nice 2 bar ending; however, once I replace any Real Track with one of my own choosing (which I am want to do), the ending disappears and the song keeps playing to an abrupt end.

Alistair,
As Matt has suggested, the most likely reason you are not getting the ending with a Realtrack is because you are not using one that is designed for 3/4 time. If you use the Realtrack Picker to load your Realtracks, it is possible to set the filter to 'waltz' (#1) and then click on the update button (#2) as shown in the image below. These options are at the bottom of the Realtrack window.
If you have BIAB 2024 and use the Multipicker Libary to load your Realtracks, there is a filter that will list 3/4 and 4/4 Realtracks separately.
Also, just in case you are not familiar with the Realtrack's description, there is always detailed information available in a RTs name (apart from the name of the instrument). For example, if the RT's name is "2118:Piano, Acoustic, Soloist CountryWaltzJohn Sw 085", this is saying that the RT is a 'waltz' since 'waltz' is in the name. Furthermore, it is suitable for solos (since 'soloist' is in the name), it has a swing feel (Sw) and was designed to be used at a tempo of 85 bpm.
Whilst 85 bpm is the optimum tempo for this RT, it is possible to use the Realtrack at other tempos. When tempos are too far away from the recommended tempo, though, often audio artifacts creep into the sound when the Realtrack is generated.
You can always do this. Ignore the canned ending. Maybe even turn off the automatic endings in the settings.
Just do what I will often do. You of course know where you want the song to end. So Just go there and add 4 to 8 measures to the song at that point. Then simply use the triple dot after the chord.... such as D... to tell BB what to do and where. That triple dot thing is a hold on the chord to a fadeout. You can get the exact ending you want regardless of anything else going on.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.
Yes, I am using 4/4 Real Tracks. I set the first bar to 3 beats and they play surprisingly well, but, as you point out, that undoes the 2 bar ending. I tried using 3/4 tracks and the ending is preserved as you suggested; however, there are a limited number of Even Style 3/4 tracks to choose from. Where there are good ones, I’ll use them. Guitarhacker, your solution works well but some tracks like Synth Pad keep playing so I’ll have to mute that. Thanks all for solving this for me.
Ok, so if I understand this correctly, for the two or four-bar endings to work in a BIAB song in 3/4 time, all RealTracks must be ones designed for 3/4? The inclusion of even one RealTrack designed for 4/4 time makes it so the two-or four-bar ending will not work? For purposes of reporting it to the developers, is that right?
And if it is right, don't mark it Resolved just yet until we know it has been acknowledged by PG Music staff.

I have just used the demo for _BALE.STY (a 3/4 style) and changed the baritone guitar (a 3/4 RT) to Hank Williams strumming (a 4/4 RT). When I regenerated the song, the 4/4 RT played past the 2-bar ending. However, when I used the "Hold everything except" option to have the Hank Williams guitar hold on the first bar of the ending while the other RTs played their ending, the ending sounded fine. The 3/4 RTs gave a proper ending while the 4/4RT sustained the chord. This combination worked well (to my ears).
If you want to have a listen, here is the songfile that I created. I have frozen all the tracks so that you can hear it as I hear it.
