Bob, you should have recorded this back in the 70's, it's really good and your and Joliz's vocals sound perfect for this song.
A funny idea to port this song back to analog (cassette? What's that?), I think it fits the song and the time.
Enjoyed the listen.
A lot!

This sounds so good in my headphones. I think the tape gave some warmth to the overall recording. I really like the song. Your background vocalist is excellent.

I might've been prepared to sell my sould for an eight track in the 90s. I had, and still have set up, a Yamaha fourtrack , (MT100), in the 2nd half of the 80s.
Love the song...written then but could be yesterday given your vision, themes and production.
I had a vague idea that it'd have sounded ace done by the 2nd last album version of the Velvets...
COOOL.

Cheers

Sometimes we think of the writer, Pete Hamill, when we read one of your lyrics because like him, you “take us there” to your area and you have such a great way with words. This is one of those times. 😊

Your friend, Joliz, does add a Joan Baez feel to the harmony and the blend is just right.

Very nice mix and the mando was a good touch.

Enjoyed it!

PS We still have a number of cassettes from that same unit (that we sold).
Gotta buy another some day and play around with them.

PPS Congrats again re the recording article.

Nice one! Sad, reminiscing, reflective, good story-telling. The song was hitched to an excellent well-mixed backing band and the electro flutes added just the right amount of pathos.

Janice & Bud,

Thanks from both of us - very much appreciated.

Very cool that you have the same 8-track unit. I was amazed at how everything came back immediately. Almost like I never stopped using it. LOL!

I also wanted to thank you again for the kind words on the Recording Magazine article.

Another beautifully crafted songwriting diamond. Simple in many ways, but still full of enjoyable details. Lyrics paint a nice dreamy image and the melody sounds classic in the 70's mood. The mandolin fits nicely and the synth is mixed perfectly to add the color needed. The vocals are great, Joliz's voice is lovely adding perfect contrast to your husky sound.
