Hello Music Lovers, Just finished this baby, song #4. I present it for your listening and commentary if you have any suggestions for improvement or things I should think about as I work on song #5. The link is private for the time being, until I run it through your ears. https://soundcloud.com/divinemetime/the-sweetest-placeI used more instruments and did a lot of editing via the piano roll. Vocals are mine. Just added dynamics and reverb on the lead. ****** Song Summary ************* Title: The Sweetest Place Soloist track has 806 notes, Soloist harmony is < no harmony >(0) Style is _SACRED.STY (Sacred Modern Country Worship) Style MIDI Instruments are : Bright Piano (2), RealTracks in style: 4020:Bass, Electric, ModernCountry16ths Ev16 075 RealTracks in style: 2540: Pedal Steel Background Modern Country... Ug! Is that because I set it as private? I switched it to public. Hopefully that makes it available. Thanks for letting me know.

Well, this sounds GREAT! Nice lyrics with a catchy melody, and LOVE the changes. Your vocal work is fantastic, and the harmony lines are sublime. Really nice work choosing the band and mixing the backing track.
My only question is...how did you use the MIDI piano roll with an all Real Tracks band? When I view the piano roll on a Real Track it is blank.
At any rate...sounds like you are making extraordinary progress adapting BiaB to your music. Keep it up!

Like it very much. Your vocals are great, especially your harmonies. Nice melody and changes, very interesting. Nice "Live" sound to the backing tracks. I do have one suggestion with the mix; I think the left panned strumming guitar is bit too loud and it overpowers your vocals, and the rest of the mix. If you pull it back, maybe add a bit of reverb to it will sit better in the mix. Try cutting the EQ @ 120hz all instrument tracks except the kick drum and bass, this will give a cleaner space for your vocals to live in. I like this song very much, lyrics, vocals, and music all work great.

Hi, Beth. Your vocals and harmonies sound great! Well, actually it all sounds good. The guitars are fighting the vocal for attention, and (IMNSHO) the vocals should always be out front. Elliot's suggestions are good. Dropping the guitar at 3:00 for the final verse works nicely. Changing up the instruments on the chorus would add some additional variety.

Thanks for your comments! I added a midi piano; sorry that's not clear in the song notes. Still don't know what I'm doing half the time.

Hi Elliot, I am so appreciative of your helpful feedback. I'll see if I can play around with that left-panned guitar and improve things. I still need to learn how to adjust the EQ...maybe that's my next goal.

Thanks for your kind words, Dcuny, and thanks for your NSHO which I agree with as a listener but as a vocalist get a little shy of being too forward. I find a new set of ears invaluable; it's tough to hear one's own work with objectivity, especially after days of listening to it.

Oh, such sweet vocals. ANd I think I mentioned my enjopyment in your handle Tilted Halo. I don't feel qualified to help you improve except telling you you are on the right path asking folks here for help. I have learned so much from these folks. Also, listen to how they critique others; you'll learn from that too. I also encourage you to keep doing what you're doing. This song is so well written, and much enjoyed. Excellent lyrics, too.

Again a lyrically really interesting song. As it began Neil Young came to mind. My only criticism is that the rhythm section could be a bit lower in volume, particularly the electric rhythm guitar in the left channel. I really like the harmonies.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Thanks for listening WaoBand and for your comments. I've been playing with the levels on that guitar and will eventually upload the improved version.

Hullo BYOBand. The song is fine. You've already had some good suggestions to try. A little reverb (not too much) would also make a fuller sound.
