Hi All,

This is a song that has been reworked a number of times over the past several years. This version finally achieves what I originally had in mind. It also features some great vocals from my friend Joliz.

This is called ART OF LOVE.

I know love like an endless sky
It's all right when it's up high
I know you can fly so blind
But I crash and burn over time

Now baby you fill your jar with paint
You know what it is and what it ain't
You got a steady hand that's lined and tough
A connoisseur in the art of love

I know love is a war of words
It's all graffiti and absurd
I know you can trace the names
But I get stuck and place the blame

Now baby you fill your jar with paint
You know what it is and what it ain't
You got a steady hand that's lined and tough
A connoisseur in the art of love

I know love is skin and bones
It's all a graveyard all alone
I know you separate the themes
But I see the raven so it seems

Now baby you fill your jar with paint
You know what it is and what it ain't
You got a steady hand that's lined and tough
A connoisseur in the art of love
Baby you
A steady hand
In the art of love

So many things said before are so worth repeating whenever I listen to your songs, Bob. One is you and Joliz sounds good together. Man, the way you create your magic right from idea through to mastering always results is songs that can be listened to over and over again, and each time appreciation of all of the ingredients you incorporate grows. Very well done. Dang, there are so many incredible couplets in your lyrics. Brilliant stuf.

Enjoy whatever happens!

I love that feeling when you know there's a better song lurking somewhere beneath the surface and it finally pops out. The way your pulse quickens and the hairs on your arm stand up. How you hope you hit Record, because you don't want it to slip away. This song hits me like that. Nice one, guys!

This is really excellent on every level. The chord structure, instrumentation - particularly that guitar - and production, plus the vocals and harmony vocals really bring out the class. I agree with Marty on SC: "… you sure have the art of creating good music.!

Bob & Joliz,

Music can be magic - and that's what you've accomplished here.

As Marty mentioned in so many words - we're running out of adjectives to describe the magic sounds your music creates. Superb!

That's a great piece of songwriting. The only thing that threw me a little was some (but not all) of the syncopated harmonies. The lyrics, the instrumentation...excellent.

There you go again, Bob.
Seemingly, picking words out of the air and making them mean something.
A simple but effective melody with a room full of images without a cliche in sight.

I would turn down the electric guitar 3 dbs where you're singing though.
Great stuff again.

Hi, Bob.

Your songs come across as raw, real, and compelling listening. The effort that it took to get the song to this point isn't showing at all.

Lyrics, vocals, arrangement - they all work together to create an emotional experience.

Really well done.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

This is great! I especially love the harmonies on the chorus. I'm a sucker for harmonies that don't line up perfectly with the lead vocal. I've just always liked it when the backing vocal peeks out from behind the lead. Nicely done overall!

Cool man. Very 60s Greenwich Village, Bob Dylan Joan Baez.

Great stuff.

Man, do you sleep or do you just write songs?

I really like that you switched from your 'normal' sparse arrangement to a full band for this song, it fits perfectly with your and Joliz's vocals.
I enjoyed my listen.
A lot!
