Alan, smooth jazz at its best.
Great job on that bass line and the mix!

Unclear if the pianist is a total beginner or a professional jazz player?

Me, I just plug in the bass and play. It's nice that people other than me can hear the difference. laugh

Hi, David,

Many thanks for those nice words. Apparently your son has a discerning ear. At almost 80 years old, mine isn't quite that acute. But, they're the only ones I have!

Take care,

Alan

Hi Chay,

Glad you enjoyed the song as is. The reason I didn't use a horn (or keys) as lead instruments is i was trying to emulate the typical Larry Carlton song. He only had horns, keys, etc., on those realtively few times he perrformed with a full orchestra as a guest or featured artist. Just staying true to the sound.

Best to you,

Alan

Open and airy -- as we love mixes.

We have enjoyed Robben Ford for years so we sat right in with the vibe.

Well done!

[quote=BabuMusic]It's no surprise that Larry & Robben translate well into the soul of Alan, and you made a wonderful piece of music to prove it. Well, it's just another opininon, but I say you did a great job on the bass, too. The whole tune shines with an expert mix, and some very tasty playing. Well done, Alan. [/quote

Hey Marty,

Your comments always put a huge smile on my face! Buy, I'll have an even bigger smile on my face tomorrow or Thursdsay - Di is scheduled to come home from the hospital then.

Hi Alan,

Very tasty jazz.

A couple of suggestions:

1. Vocals would be great.
2. A little more bass to provide the guitar with a bed to play against and offset the snare.

Best Regards
Nigel

Hi Nigel,

I'm delighted you enjoyed the song.

I agree, a vocal would be complimentary to the music. I've come nowhere close to to writing a lyric that would work. I' always open to others who miht want to write a lyric - with equall PRO rights.

I was a little concerened about the bass. I'm on a secondary computer while my main laptop is on the shop. Tghe generic souncard in this laptop isn't very good it doesn't csarry the lower frequencies very good. When I get my main laptop back, I'll add a little more volume to the bass.

Take care,

Alan

Relaxing and enjoyable. And another excellent title. The processing on the lead guitar makes it shine.

Hi Scott,

Thanks a bunch. The guitar processing was mostly from the original RT. I didn't do much to it. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me know.

Man Alan, this is really great stuff. I really, really like the way it all came out. I'm not familiar with Carlton's music, but I sure like this - a lot.

Great track! Is it my headphones, or are the bass and kick drum a bit recessed? It's a pity, because the bass is going to give the track some drive. In any case, it's very well structured. Thanks

Nice indeed tune. I always liked Larry. I had the opportunity to see him in an outdoor concert in a park in Naples, Fl years ago.
Well done!
