If I press save after changing a style of a song or writing a chord, my song file is getting a new file date, but nothing is saved. Only if I use save as it is working. So I have set "Save button on main screen works as save as" in Preferences 2, but normally it would be nice to have a simple save button without any confirmation for overwriting. What is wrong here?

Not sure since it’s the Mac version, but do you Regenerate your song before saving?

Hello frohi and welcome to the forums!
Can you check to see if the song files you're working on are "locked", or if your user account is allowed to write to that file/folder? You can do that by right clicking (or two-finger clicking) the file in the Finder and choosing Get Info - there should be a checkbox in the General section for locking the file, and the Sharing & Permissions section at the bottom should list your username with "Read & Write" privileges.
Also, double check to see if your song files are contained in cloud storage such as Dropbox or iCloud, as those are known to cause problems with saving files.
PS: I've merged your two threads and moved them into the BIAB Mac subforum for better visibility.

Save works fine so some investigation is needed to see what is going on.

Hi Simon, thank you for support. The files are not locked and I‘m Administrator user. The files came from a list of realbook song that I got from the internet, but stored locally. Maybe they are original stored as Windows files that this is the problem or they have portions of cloud inside. Curious that save as is working fine How can I check for existing cloud portions?

Without ruling anything out, it's unusual to have 'cloud portions inside' a music file. What exactly is the name(s) of the files. Are they MIDI files? Type 0 or 1?
Can you upload one or more files to a file sharing service and share the link?

I solved the problem. I had accidentally loaded mg1 files and since the song picker doesn't automatically update its list, I didn't notice that the saved data was in an MGU file. It's one of the reasons why I've never wanted to get more involved with band in the box. There are so many overloaded dialogs, but unfortunately they don't reflect things like filtering and sorting according to modern and common criteria. Every time you use the program, you feel like you're back in Windows 1990, even though you're working with a MAC 2024.

We can only make suggestions of improvements. Some may seem straightforward but be difficult to implement, nevertheless, improvements are highly sought after.
