I have a project with 20 tracks so far. Pt. plays those tracks with hardly any CPU usage. I loaded the same project in cakewalk by band lab and got glitches, with audio with the buffer set at 256. No problems with pt. at this setting. I still had problems with cakewalk with a 512 buffer. Pt. is the main daw I use. I upgraded my pc(i7 processor 16GB ram 1TB SSD for windows and my projects are stored on a 4tb usb external drive. I was wanting to go for another daw, but I might be sticking with pt. Pt to me, does audio fine, but is a little weak with midi.

CD.

i would compare your cake audio driver settings to pt that work to see any discrepencies.
what sound interface are you useing in cake ?
you might find tips i posted in pg tips section re optimising a pc for music production interesting ?

in what way is pt midi weak ? what features ? cos i used to show pt to big studios years ago re midi and it knocked their socks off as in 'its how cheap ?'.
if in fact there is a midi feature you need in pt the new features will come out in pt 2025 in a few months i suspect as usual. so it might be worth putting your needs in the wishlist for 2025.

hth/happiness.

I also use logic just for sounds. In logic, I create a piano track and a string track and can play them live together. I'm a guitarist but can play some keys for studio work. If that was possible with Pt., to me it would be the best daw out there. My interface is a roland studio capture that has worked well for me. Thinking of adding another for 32 channel of recording.

Welcome to the community Craig D.

How do you get Logic to work on a Windows operating system computer? Cakewalk and PowerTracks I can see since they only work on Windows computers.

Do you want to use PowerTracks to playback instrument patches in realtime as you are playing your keyboard?

I also have a macbook air that I use for live sounds to record with. I have a 3.5 mm jack in the headphone jack going stereo into my interface. It works well. I also have an ipad mini doing the same thing. I just joined the forum but I've been using pt. since version 5 back in 2000

cd.

you can record any audio track or midi you want in pt.

eg strings or piano or whatever instrument track you want.

for 100 bu ks you could upgrade to reaband and get session musicians
as well as biab.

to get more help as details are scant please go into more detail of how you want to work.
note there is nothing to stop you sending logic audio tracks into pt via the usb audio interface.
ps for more info on realband wbich is llike pt on stereoids for a daft low price
read the rb manuals and faq and vids on this site. if your used to pt you shouldnt have probs with rb viz learning curve.
