Hi all,

I'm looking for a pair of powered speakers to use in our kitchen - spending in the range of 150 to 400 dollars to play back from Apple itunes.

Have you recently auditioned or purchased any that really wow'ed you given the price and performance ?

Not looking for "true audio" - if the speakers 'color' the music to make it sound better to your ear, all the better.

Best,
Joe

Its almost 2025 - Just go to Sonos and keep it simple. I love my Move 2.

On the lower end, $200 for both: Presonus Eris 4.5. The full sound surprised me. Connect your audio out to one speaker only, and run their supplied cable to the other.

But we need more info. How big is your living room? You might want to get a subwoofer with your monitors. And do want to listen or do you want to DANCE? Will you connect your TV to this for movie sound?

Yes, I'm confused too. The post title mentions 'living room', and the O/P then mentions 'kitchen' cry

I use Pioneer S-DJ50X Active Monitors, and they are really excellent.

Thanks for the suggestions....our house is 18ft by 35, but we have a kitchen / dining area (dropped the wall between the two), so these 2 speakers would be against the wall facing the kitchen

It's amazing how many choices there are out there - and when I listen to some of these smaller speakers on display in Best Buy for example, I'm amazed at how good all of them sound for their size.

I took a quick look at the Sonos - my friend had a pair that I heard once - sounded amazing, great candidate - but I've read that they updated their software and introduced lots of issues with bluetooth and streaming from e.g. itunes (lost connection) - is that true ? Of course I would think such a big problem would have been fixed by now. I know many of you feel the loss in fidelity with bluetooth is terrible, but my wife really wants to stream from her phone - and I like that convenience too.

FWIW, there's a quite neat little Bluetooth audio adapter from Logitek that I use when I want BT but there is none.
Like so many Bluetooth devices, it does play that stupid 3-note arpeggio when connecting, which can be very anoying over a PA. frown
Bluetooth audio adapter.
(Hmm, I can't find that on Logitek's website and Amazon.com says "currently unavailable". Maybe it's being discontinued?)
