Stems separation is a very interesting new feature! I'd like to know the "after"...according to the introductory video, I could use for instance the voice to create a new arrangement with BIAB...and at this point I cannot understand how???? I hope there will be soon a video explaining how I can make a new arrangement starting from a single audio track...

I hope there will be soon a video explaining how I can make a new arrangement starting from a single audio track... Hi Alf. Yes you could definitely use the voice to create a BIAB arrangement. One thing to keep in mind... When I was testing stem separation, it didn't seem to strip the vocal track of whatever effects or processing was used to create it. This means that the BIAB arrangement needs to be adjust to fit around the voice rather than fitting the voice into a BIAB backing. I didn't have any issue with doing this at all, and the voice worked well. To create a BIAB backing, as I see it, the following steps are needed... 1) Run the complete audio file through BIAB's Audio Chord Wizard. This will obtain the chords used in the arrangement as well as create a tempo map that matches the audio's tempo and tempo variations (if they exist). 2) Once the chord chart and tempo map are created, save the SGU file. 3) Load in the vocal track (I would use the Audio track although the Utilities tracks are equally good). 4) Build a BIAB backing around the vocals. I hope this helps. --Noel P.S. If you are not sure how to use the Audio Chord Wizard, I put together a tutorial earlier this year. It's at the link below and takes about one hour to work through. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=821394#Post821394

Unfortunately, my first experiments with this new feature are not going very well. After opening a song via File > Open Special> Open Using Stem Splitter, and running the ACW on the master track (or in any ot the stem tracks) all the tracks get completely out of sync.
After trying Noel's method I get the same problem: when loading the vocal track (Step #3) into an utility track, that track is completely out of sync.

Cerio,
Did you create a tempo map using ACW? My understanding is that the tempo map should match the performance of the vocalist since the tempo map follows any changes in the band's tempo. The singer and the band are also sync'd together by the performance. The one area where my thinking falls apart is if the individual audio tracks from the splitting process are saved with ACID information. In this case, the vocalist track will be adjusted to the variations of the tempo map. This would cause the vocalist's track to misalign.
I'll do some investigating and get back to you! --Noel

My understanding is that the tempo map should match the performance of the vocalist since the tempo map follows any changes in the band's tempo. [...] I'll do some investigating and get back to you! So did I, but I'm getting different results than I had expected. Thanks for trying!

I am eager to see a video about the ways to use this feature and have some more information. Apart from stem separation the new Version, and that may be different for many users, isn't attractive enough to upgrade. The PlugIn however may be a good reson to spend some money.
As for the Stem Splitter - I do have some (expensive and free) and one is part of Studio One. So I do have separat stems from the Songs I would like to sing along, sitting ready to go within my DAW. (You may notice, I do not wish to keep the Vocal, but to get ride of it.) Most cases, I do have the original recording as my backing track. In a few cases, I wish to manipulate it. Changig something or adding to it. Again, this is something I can do with the tools available. Using the Stem Separation within Studio One is giving me the chord progression, the Tempo Map and what not.
I cannot see how I would benefit from Loading my song in BiaB instead of Studio one. With the PlugIn I could use Band in a Box Features in my DAW and add Real Tracks if I see a need. Is there something I am missing? Something I do not see yet?
And, by the way - the end result I want to have is a sort of Karaoke Video with Lyrics showing up in proper time. Again, I can do this today, but maybe Band in a Box has a better way. That would be another incentive to upgrade.

Is there something I am missing? Something I do not see yet? I too have stem splitting with Studio One Pro, Logic Pro and Rip X Daw so this is not something that I need. As far as VST 3 stuff I always use them in my DAW's not in BIAB. JJJ mentioned why the use Lyrics AI when you can just go to Chat GP? The one thing I have not tried yet which I am surprised no one is talking about is the Plugin and being able to follow tempo changes in your DAW with Floating point numbers. The plugin has some great new features!

Brian, good point. The support for non-integer tempos may cause me to experiment with the plugin, which up to now I have not needed.

Like I said above "The PlugIn however may be a good reson to spend some money." Still sitting on the fence if I update the programm only, or take the plus Pack together with the 49 Pack as I usually do. Living in Germany adds substancial VAT to the Bill. So far I have seen no Code to compensate for this. Another reason to hesitate.

About the VAT, is it still charged if you purchase BIAB by download? It’s now possible to buy the upgrade and new RealTracks by download for the audiophile version.

Thanks. Bad news. So, if you were to buy the downloadable special price package for new audiophile update, at $149, then you pay an additional 20% of that $149 as your total purchase price of nearly $180. Thus there is no benefit to buying by download? In all the discussions we have had on this (of which as a USA resident I have no real understanding), we assumed that PG Music developing a downloadable audiophile version (and the full one is coming someday) would help you.

I hope all wishes are fulfilled. I only had one wish. “An improved search concept”. I can’t find anything relating to "search" that has improved. It is good to have stem separation now in BIAB as well but not really necessary for those doing most work (and stem separation) outside BIAB in the DAW(SO) and SMP. Time mapping is so much easier in those software packages (SMP automatically, SO single operation). I find time mapping in ACW very frustrating and time consuming. It would be very useful to be able to import the "Time Map" from external software (DAW and SMP)
However I bought the PlusPAK+25% VAT on top (I don’t think there will be any more coupons).

I agree with you on the search. I was hoping like a search that Studio One Pro just did with the built in splice app. Just drag a sample of the music to be analyzed and find the best matches.

I didn't expect (nor wanted) 50 new features, but I certainly expected existing features (like search, or tracks view) to be improved and lots of reported bugs to be fixed. This has been discussed extensively this year here, and I really hope future 2025 updates will cover this.
