OM, you shouldn't run into any issues in RB cleaning up the tracks or having any sync issues. Very straightforward in RB.
I went to your site and d/l'd "Raise the Flag" and ran it through the Splitter in BIAB. I only used the vocal track but I had no issues syncing with BIAB and replaced several heavy metal styles and soloists with your vocal track and it set in the mix quite satisfactory. There was a few artifacts in the Stem separation but that was taken care of with the Audio Editor.
You should be able to have a lot of fun and no issues using RB.

>>> The second scenario the vocal track and band will lose sync is the ACW (a single track function) has to have the first bar set before creating the Chord analysis and tempo map.
‘There’s an easy way to solve that. Assuming the master is on the audio track, and you’ve used that master to make your tempo map with ACW. As youve pointed out, the starting point for bar 1 shifted for the audio track. And the other tracks didn’t get shifted, The solution is to do either of these two things.
1. Delete the stem split tracks (bass.drums, guitars, vocals) and redo the stem split using the audio track (which is named mysong.wav on disk) as the audio source (assuming your bb song is called mysong.sgu). Then the stem tracks are perfectly aligned. — or —- 2, if you’re planning to use the Audio chord wizard and sync things up, do that first by file-open or dragging the master to the audio track then use acw, and then stem split using the audio track as the source. (That gives the same result as point 1 above)
In a future patch we will add an option that auto-shifts all of the audio tracks, but until then either if these options should work to fix up any situation where the stem tracks are not aligned with the master track.
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

Charlie and Peter...
great comments.
This is huge...i'm stoked. cos i know of no other music app that will do this because it means now anyone can take an old stereo master (mastered on tape or to digital) and add new tracks to it. irrespective of whether the original master was pristine or a 'rough demo'. (i have lots of both haveing recorded on everything from big studios gear down to useing total junk gear/mics etc just to get a song idea down.) ie upgrade with new rt's//supertracks//rd's//midi driving plugins etc.
now the BIG question... i assume that as rb handles 'fractional tempos' and due to both your comments that rb is the better vehicle...right ? due to situations of original tape masters that have 'wow and flutter' so rb is a better solution because it handles fractional tempos. correct ?? tape wow/flutter is the 'elephant in the room' and my major concern re correcting for it.
Peter...just an idea... and i'm thinking of new pg users...maybe a vid detailing the various steps taking an old (originally) tape master with wow/flutter and stem splitting and adding new pg content to it.....useing rb. ie in essence we are talking like when one buys an old house ie renovating it and bringing it up to date for when the relatives come to visit...lol.
merry xmas.
om

RB may work better in some situations but because I use features in BIAB that don't carry over to RB or the Plug-in - I use the Splitter in BIAB.

I'm a bit late for the party on stem splitting. From the video tutorials on the this new function, I'm pretty excited. I really like the idea of using the Metronome style to line up the measures in ACW.
Anyway, I'm wondering about a couple of things: 1)when using Equalize Tempos, do the stems stretch to the new tempo? That could be very cool for recording in the studio, where we like to keep the click off to allow for a bit more freedom for the players, but then bring the tempo back to something very consistent for overdubbing. 2)if I use stems synched with BIAB tracks, what happens with the stems if insert bars, such as adding a prechorus, or add a section for a solo? Is it naive for me to assume that the stems will be chopped up for moving with the rest of the tracks? In other words, if the track is 2 minutes long with stems, if I insert a 30 second solo, will the vocal be moved forward to make the vocal track 2 minutes 30?

1)when using Equalize Tempos, do the stems stretch to the new tempo? Yes, but you have to enable this option on each one of the steams tracks (it's disabled by default) 2)if I use stems synched with BIAB tracks, what happens with the stems if insert bars, such as adding a prechorus, or add a section for a solo? [...] In other words, if the track is 2 minutes long with stems, if I insert a 30 second solo, will the vocal be moved forward to make the vocal track 2 minutes 30? Yes.

I'm clearly behind on AI stem splitting. This is my first stem splitting software. Are there other better apps for separating stems? One that may be able to separate the piano from the guitar?

Not to my knowledge, I believe because the frequencies and intonations are similar. However, others may know more and have worked with other products that handle this more accurately.

There are several algorithms that claim to be able to separate guitar and piano tracks, but the reality is that none of them (at least, the ones I've tried) work well in most cases. Spleeter, the original stem separation algorithm in which many of them are based, was originally designed to separate drums, bass, vocals, and the rest of the tracks, and most algorithms developed subsequently still work better with the same 4 tracks. .
