Hi all,

I have quite a few devices that require connection and/or playback from my Windows PC. They include:
1. Band in a Box / Realband
2. Presonus Firepod
3. Roland GI-20 guitar midi interface USB
4. TC Helicon Voice-Live
5. Native Instruments (driven by USB keyboard input)

I've used typically 2 at a time, but never all 5 at once.

What would be some things I would need to consider in terms of RAM and hardware usagefor the most complicated use case of recording to Realband or some other DAW:

1.) Vocals --> Firepod --> Realband
2.) Keyboards --> USB --> Native Instruments --> Realband
3.) VoiceLive--> Firepod --> Realband
4.) Guitar --> GI-20--> NI--> Realband

Unless you can play guitar and keyboards at the same time you really have 1 NI and 1 RB working in the computer .. so not much.
If there aren't a lot of background processes running 16GB RAM should work, 32 to be safe.
That's really not a lot.
The Firepod, GI-20 and Voicelive do some of the work outside of the system.

Just my thought.
Don't try using slow HDD or processor though, that could be a bottleneck.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I don’t think this is a problem. I recognize some of your devices as being around for awhile, when USB 2 was the standard. The low data transfer rates shouldn’t stress your computer unless you stumble on an IRQ conflict. That is unlikely in the days of Windows 10 and 11. The worst I can see happening is that one device doesn’t work until you try another USB port.

BIAB needs lots of storage space but not necessarily fast storage to work. The CPU is most important. You asked specifically about RAM. Even that used to be more of an issue but not now, since. BIAB 2024 and later reads the RealTracks more efficiently from disk than in past years.

BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
