Hi All,
I'm having some difficulty with the BIAB plugin for Logic.
(Latest Macbook Air. BIAB 2024 Pro)
I manage to load the plugin and also select styles and insert chords (make a song).
I generate and play from the plugin and all works ok. However I cannot drag the instruments (Base, Drums etc) onto the logic page.
The mouse does not pick up the track to drag.
I have checked the tutorials but they are out of date and the plugin for 2024 is laid out differently but I assume the process is the same.
So in the tutorial everything works a treat, but not for me. I just can't see what's wrong.
Maybe setup, but everything works within the plugin. No error messages.
So I'm stuck and would really appreciate any advice/ideas.
Thank you. Regards.

Hi Luke, and welcome to the forums!

What version of macOS are you using, and what version of Logic?

Hi and thanks for your reply.

I worked it out actually.
As usual, the problem was me. All I had to do was click on the track (to select it I guess) then I was able to drag all the BIAB tracks into Logic just fine.
I didn't think of doing that because it was a new project with only one instrument track so it didn't occur to me to click on the track before trying to drag n drop the BIAB track into it.

My computer is a Apple Macbook Air (2024 model with Apple M3).
16GB internal RAM. 512GB internal SSD
2TB external SSD.
MacOS is Sequoia 15.1.1
Logic is Logic Pro 11.

The BIAB Plugin seems to work fine although the sound of the instruments seems quite poor but that's probably me also.

At this stage of learning, I have found the using the BIAB desk top application to create my song and then import it into logic via BIAB plugin seem to produce the best sound quality. But I have a lot to learn about BIAB at this stage.

Thanks again.
Cheers, Luke

I use the BIAB desktop app to build my arrangement. I then export the tracks (.wav) to Logic. From there (with both Logic and BiAB open) I add/change tracks using the biab drag and drop feature into logic till I get what I want. I tried the plug-in a few times early on. It wasn't satisfactory way back when. Perhaps its time to give it another go.

Glad you're up and running! Do you know if you're using a MIDI style or a RealTracks style (instruments in yellow or green)? MIDI styles don't always sound great without a fair bit of extra work and good instrument plugins.

Hi,
Yes that's pretty much what I found with the plugin.
I'm now also using the desktop version to produce my arrangement.
I then save my BIAB project, open Logic and open the BIAB plugin.
I then open my project with the BIAB plugin and drag it to the Logic workspace.

I don't know why the quality of sounds available to select directly from the plugin in Logic seem so poor.
At this stage I'm assuming it's something I'm not doing.
I have looked at several tutorials but their not much help as they all use an old version of BIAB and plugin and the 2024 version looks and seems to work differently with a different layout.

It would be great to get some advice from the experts.
Cheers.

Hi,
All the files are MIDI styles. They seem to be the only ones that are accessible from the plugin.
I'm starting to wonder if I haven't installed all the files correctly.
FYI I installed the main program on the Mac system disk and the sound files onto an external 2TB SSD and set the locations of RealTracs and RealDrums in BIAB.

I'll give it another try with a new project from within Logic and see how I go and post the results.

Cheers.

Hi,
Just opened a new Logic project with one instrument track.
Opened BIAB plugin and the Style picker gives me access to 1,198 styles. I'll probably buy some expansion packs once I know what I'm doing smile

Looking at the Set# column in the Style picker, I see that about half are MIDI and the rest are made up of Misc, RT(RealTracks I assume) and MST types.
Some are single instrument and some multi instrument.
Some include MIDI and RealDrums.
Definitely the RealTracks styles sound better.

They seem to sound ok??

I think I'll try the same styles using the plugin as well as the desktop version of BIAB and compare.
Cheers.

Hi again.
I just had an error message pop up (Yellow rectangle) when trying to load a style _FLEXES ..... RT359.
The message didn't last very long but I was able to do a screen capture to read it.

Message reads: Cannot load drum style because this folder does not exist '/VOLUMES/KINGSTON/APPLICATIONS/BAND-IN-A-BOX/DRUMS/BrushesEZSwingSwirl.
And checking, Yes that folder does not exist in the DRUMS folder. There are several similar Brushes folders but not that one.
Did that folder get missed out in the installation or is there a program error?

Cheers.
