I have a recorded midi in reaper that isn’t syncing with my biab plugin. I can only seem to send track from biab plugin to reaper but not the reverse. I also am unable to use biab midi recording like a proper daw where I can isolate midi notes, copy and paste etc
I'm pretty sure that the Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin is designed for a one way flow where midi data or audio travels from the plugin to the DAW; not vice-versa where data or audio travels from the DAW to the Plugin.
I'm sorry but I don't understand your meaning with " I also am unable to use biab midi recording like a proper daw where I can isolate midi notes, copy and paste etc". Please provide an example of what you're wanting to do?
You don't list your hardware, BIAB version or macOS. Please edit your Signature to show these. Click on your User Name in the upper right of the screen and select Edit Profile to do this. It will help everyone.
With the current version, BIAB Instruments do not play well with other applications over Apple Silicon like they used to. If BIAB 2025 becomes AS Native, I expect that to change back to the way it works on Intel Macs. Not knowing your setup, I have no idea if this is your issue.
Not sure what you are doing, but you can drag midi from Reaper to an empty track in the BB Plugin. The BB Plugin won't play back midi/audio to the DAW tempo map. If you are using Reaper with Biab/Plugin you would be best to use this script it will transfer tracks instantly from Biab to Reaper and sync to the tempo map:

Use this "Browse" button to set the path of the frozen SGU/MGU, this can be the SGU you are currently working on in Biab. "Reaload Tracks" button will load all the currently frozen tracks in the SGU. "Selected" button will transfer the track instantly into the selected track. "New" button will transfer the track instantly into a new track. "Set" button will set Reaper bpm to same as SGU. "Import Chords" button will import the current SGU chords as regions (make sure to Unfold and save first), it will set the bpm and time signature. If you update or add new tracks in Biab, just freeze the track and save, then simply hit the "Reload Tracks" button to update the track list.
EDIT: If you don't have the peak files already it will have to build them but once you have the reapeaks files it will be instant. You can use Script: Create reapeaks in folder.lua
ok so if I can't bring reaper tracks back into biab, then is there a way to import my 3rd party midi tracks and record them into biab? basically replace reaper with biab.
" I also am unable to use biab midi recording like a proper daw where I can isolate midi notes, copy and paste etc".
In reaper I can cut, paste, copy etc in the main DAW view without having to go into the piano roll to edit individual midi notes in biab I can't do any of this. I need to go into the piano roll, and it only shows 1 track at a time so I can't record with a birds-eye view and see where I am in the song when laying down melody and harmony.

That is correct. On the rare occasions I have to do this, I copy the piano rolls into Digital Performer and use my extensive VI library.

Load this ReWireVST into Biab https://stash.reaper.fm/v/44496/ReaTrak-biab-rewire-control-GUI.zip (just use the Mac ReWire dll) then select Reaper. Another option to give full midi edit is RapidComposerVST, it will load the Biab chord track then fit any midi anywhere on the chord track as well as keyswitches for Virtual Instruments.
