Hi Floyd,
Well, that's something different from what I'm used to from you. All of it was demanded by Ray? And you were so obedient to that man down under? I hear all kinds of new things here on the forum. That's what happens when you don't visit it regularly, I think.
But you, while having nothing to say, do everything in your song to hide that! So, what you get with that? A good song, with a raw voice in the chorus, and a solo guitar ending the song. You done well, Floyd.
PS: is there something else Ray wants from you?
Hans

Floyd, I have nothing bad to say about this song. Super vocal, lyrics, backing band and mix. Great guitar leads - if it wasn't for the pentatonic scale most all guitarists would be lost, me included. It can be scary but it is fun getting out of your comfort zone, especially if it come out great like this song

I love this song! It's a sentiment I've wanted to write about for a long time now, but having heard yours, I no longer feel the need to write it. You've covered the bases well! And I've never heard you sound so rock and roll, it was an awesome vocal! No shame in playing second fiddle to Mister Brent Mason unless your name is Johnny Hiland. I thought your guitar work fit the song well. Great outing!

There’s a whole lotta something in that nothing you had to say. 😊
“A joy in simply living” YES! This looks like one of Janice’s quotes posted in our kitchen.
Love the gritty vocal and the talking before the solo.
The solo is impressive mr jane and even more so given how well it supports the entire vibe of the tune in both chops and tone. Hopefully it is the harbinger of many more!
Good drums mashup of BiaB and Addictive Drums and a great mix. Love that snare pop.
Piano - check Lead guitar - check What’s next man?
Get down, floyd jane!

P.S. Say some more nothing, please.

Nice rocker. This was a fun listen. A fade-out..... haven't heard one of those in a while.
Good to see you're not afraid to put it out there. The guitar playing was good. The Pentatonic scale is a standard for practically all blues and rock solos and fills. Keep at it. Thanks for listening, Herb. If you aren't putting Yourself out there, what's the point... pretending to "create" music? Floyd, that's a cool and creamy overdrive you've got going on. Really fun fills and a tasty solo. Nicely arranged and mixed as well. Super vocals! Love the fade ending and the soloist who just...won't...quit...playing...
Ha! Thanks, Ron. I've been through most of the major amp sim packages. There is Nothing that comes close S-Gear, in my opinion. EVERY preset makes me think "I can use that!"

Well, I've got plenty to say!
I'm confused. I read your intro description and are you saying YOU are the one playing those filler licks and solos? Not kidding. Is that what you meant? I'm going to comment as though that's the case. First, yeah, you wrote a song. It's you, so it's good. All my typically comments apply. Back to the guitar.
I may be way off on this, I'm no guitar scientist, but that sounds like Billy Gibbons type guitar playing to me. It's about feel. It's about tone. It's about melodic choice. It's about THE SOUND. No garnish, ALL meat!
I really liked it. I'm sorry if you have to be more direct about if that's you playing or not. I know you mentioned not that long ago that you started tinkering around with lead. It just doesn't seem like you would be at this point already if that's the case. Like I said, that wasn't that long ago...at all! I mean, that's a really great sound. Loved the tone, especially for that style of music. Tone..Melody...Sound...Meat. Yes! So, if that is you, my advice would be to quit as soon as possible. Pick a lane and get great at it. It's pick "a" lane. As in one. No need to be great at all of them. Sorry. All those lanes look so inviting. Jumping in head first. I'm just making it up as I go. Shacking my head as I walk out again, questioning what I've been doing with my life. You and me both.

I'm with Chad about the guitar. That's good enough playing to go anywhere and feel comfortable sitting in with the band. Another good write. Another good song. It's fun to come to this forum and just have a good time and listen to some good tunes. Enjoyed this one a lot.
Charlie Much appreciated, Charlie... always nice to have you drop in to the Showcase.... 1stly - I'm truly honoured. Then - I really like the lead stuff. It may be pentatonic but it WORKS a treat and wailing on it is "tradition". You say it well when you've nothing to say...wow, some territory. The outro - you did what gets to me best - I wanted to hear what was happening in the moments after the fade out...al the good rock guitar tunes do that o me. Cool band, cool vocal, a strong non message & COOOOOL lead stuff. Personally I'm still not at pentatonic level - I'm still plugging chord tones and am afraid of bends. You sir, have all of that well sorted. Thanks for the great comments! ...and for the original encouragement. Making music has become more fun and enjoyable than ever before. And nothing artificial.

Those fills and solos sound good to me! Cool pulsating rocker---one that would keep the people in a bar hopping. Enjoyed it.

Nice Floyd. Like the tone.
There sure are some good pickers and riffers on this forum, and you have definitely joined the club.
You and Herb should do a duet like picking brothers. It might be a lot of fun for you guys.
Just a thought.
The forum does have lots of awesome collaborations these days!

Great rocking song, Floyd. I loved the guitar solos, particularly the long one at the end. The song deserved nothing to say and only music at the end. Thanks,Chay.... I love this Floyd .
I could hear the fun in your voice which in turn made the song fun to listen to. You underestimate your substantial lead guitar skills Floyd which are even more impressive given that the key was not guitar friendly. Also kudos for writing something about not having anything to write about. Very creative. You've got PLENTY to say Floyd and I'm all ears enjoying your great music! Appreciate that, Izzy...

Floyd that is a good sounding song. Personally, I thought it had a bit of a Fogarty flavor. Good one Sir Jane

Hi, floyd jane. Pentatonic playing is the best fit over a blues progression? I'm shocked! Shocked, I say. The song works as a song, as well as an excuse for playing solos. Isn't that what rock is all about anyway? Nice. Thanks, David.... Superb. Superb song, great playing, great singing (as usual). I hope I, one day, write like this when I have nothing to write about . Love the edge in this song - throughout (in your voice, playing, writing). I've heard many beautiful ballads from you, as well as some brilliant up tempo songs ... this is "biting", edgy stuff. And I really like the message of the song, too - it speaks for itself, nothing more to say than what it fully says. Well done. Much appreciated, James... Sounds good to me, Floyd, I was jamming along while I listened Playing pentatonic scales is certainly the first step, and many of the old masters made a career doing just that, Albert King comes to mind, Otis Rush too, and many more. Good choice of amp sims too, S-Gear is what I've been using for the last few years now also. Fun stuff!! More please Thanks, Dave,...

Really enjoyed this, so professional and smooth! Loved the “spoken” line—added a great dimension to the listen. Appreciate that, T.... Cool 145 rocker, .... great for open mics and blues jams. You said it all 😎 Thanks, Elliott Floyd, I'm not sure you have nothing to say because I love your song and especially these lyrics: "the whole damn world's gone crazy we all forgot the point the inmates found the keys they're running the joint". Laurent Thanks, Laurent

Hi floyd.
I would love to be able to think of songs lyrics like these. As I see it, it's kind of like 'reading between the lines'. It's what you don't say that makes these lyrics all the more powerful. You really are quite an amazing writer. After all these years, I still envy your talent. Your "I've got nothing to say" says such a lot.

Man, for a guy with nothing to say, you say it so well. Cool, driving feel that does well to affirm your admission, pounding out each word with a band that can. Your guitar speaks volumes, Floyd. And it's all so well said. Thanks, Ray!! Thanks, Marty. Hi Floyd Very entertaining rock song Sounds like fun in the recording studio ;-) And that's the most important thing after all Nice work Andi ;-) Thanks, Andi. Floyd,
I'm convinced you can write something better than 99% of us off of a cereal box! Love this little rockin' tune! Loved the guitar parts you added (That thing sounds great) That four on the floor rhythmic change was awesome! Floyd, you're the best man! Keep on rockin'
Thanks, TB Much appreciated, Torrey....

Southern Rock Floyd! ZZ Jane! Very cool what you're doing here. I'm pretty impressed with your guitar solo, the playing and tone are really good. Your vocals are good but could be a bit more raspy. Smoking and whiskey help, but are not recommended. Enjoyed my listen. A LOT!

Floyd,
Listened to this some days ago . . . cool rocker . . . great write and production treatment. I think your solo is pretty damn good (and I've never been a big fan of Brent's BAIB solo tracks . . . always a bit hit or miss for me). Definitely a head rockin', toe tapping tune! Good stuff!!
