Here is some more additional info about the situation before and after the error. This info is shown below in the ASIO Setup Dialog of RealBand :

[BEFORE ERROR] - Driver Info:
Input channels 10
Output channels 6
Allowed sample rate 44100 <yes>, other rates <no>
Input data format : Int32LSB
Output data format : Int32LSB
Buffer sizes in samples: min=256 max=5376 pref=256 granularity=256
actual ASIO buffer size in MS: 5.80
actual ASIO sample rate used: 44100 (Resampler NOT in use)

[AFTER ERROR]- Driver Info:
Input channels 0
Output channels 0
Allowed sample rate 44100 <no>, other rates <no>
Input data format : Int16MSB
Output data format : Int16MSB
Buffer sizes in samples:
actual ASIO buffer size in MS:
actual ASIO sample rate used:

Obviously also the data format is changed from Int32LSB to Int16MSB. Does anybody know what this relates to and what may have causes this change? Maybe this leads to a new clue?

greetings and thanks in advance,

The error in RealBand 2010.5 build 2 still occurs with the Roland V-Studio 100

Wait, so you get the same error with two completely different interfaces? Does the error mention the same .dll as before? Do you get the error if you don't use your Roland keyboard at all (unplug the MIDI cables)?

Hello Andrew,

Now you mention this, I just checked the error text and you are correct, its a little different then before! Now the error text with the Sonar VS-100 is :

"Access Violation at address 1000285C in module Rdaw1099.dll Read of address 0000108 at: 100285C"

while the message with the Roland UA700 was :

"Access Violation at address 100025B9 in module Rdaw1024.dll Read of address 0000108 at: 100025B9"

So the .dll is different and the address range is some different too!

And to your 2nd question, I already got the error today without the keyboard connected.

Hope this gives some new clue.

greetings,

Hi Valentino, Andrew said this a few days ago.

<Run the program from this folder and answer no to the ASIO question.>

ASIO can sometimes cause problems like this. Did you try it using MME?

I have been following this thread and I also have a Roland UA 700. I have been using it
with Vista 32 for several years without a problem. I switched to a Dell XPS laptop
with Win 7 x 64 and have been using a Soundblaster Express card.
This morning I hooked up the UA 700 to my laptop and downloaded the W7x64 driver and started up BIAB and it played with no problem. I opened Real Band ( witch I never Use )
and made the selections in the preference file using MME and Hyper Canvas and played through two songs and exited the program and everything sounded great with no Error
reports.
I did not have any input devices chosen and maybe that can be the problem you are having. I have had ASIO problems before using a Guitar synth. and Vista but haven't
tried it with W7x64.
Hope that this helps. Dave.

Hello Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I also tried to use RB without choosing an input but I still got the Access Violation error then.

Interesting to hear you can work well with the UA-700 on your PC. Mine is an HP Pavillion Intel-I3 with 6 Gb of RAM and Windows 7 64 bits.

I still wonder how the file format just can change by itself from Int32LSB to Int16MSB in the ASIO Driver Dialog info after the error occurred. Is there perhaps another resident program which may cause troubles on the PC? I can work fine with both Sonar VS and Sonar CakeWalk Homestudio 7 XL but get termination errors and troubles when starting BIAB and RealBand. Does Int16 perhaps refer to a 16 bit ancient program or driver?

I have tried everything I could think of by now to solve this problem. I still cant work with RB Even switching to another soundcard doesnt solve the problem. An input device is not likely to cause the access violation error.

I hope someone knows more about the file format/sample rate issue. How it can change by itself or how its changed by something in the system?

Dave,

Could you please check something with the UA-700. After launching RealBand just go to the [Midi Drv] Dialog so it opens. Then close it (you can just use Cancel without making any changes. Then re-open and re-close the [Midi Drv] dialog again. After that I get an Access Violation error (no matter if i click OK or Cancel). Can you check what happens on your system when triggering these events?

Thanks in advance for your help and greetings,

Valentino

Valentino--

Have you tried disabling Windows Sounds?

Windows Sounds are 48KHz.

There may be an issue whereas Windows calls the card and changes its settings...

Hello Mac,

I have tried disabling the Onboard Audio on the motherboard in the BIOS but that didnt help. But what is exactly the 'windows sound' ?

My Windows Mixer shows for Playing :
====================================
> RealTek Digital Output
> 1-2 VS-100 (the Sonar VS-100 default)
> 3-4 VS-100
> 5-6 VS-100
> Headphones(RealTek High Definition Audio)

My Windows Mixer shows for Recording :
======================================
> Microphone (RealTek High Definition, Not Connected) *
> Line-In (RealTek High Definition, Not Connected) *
> Stereo Mix ((RealTek High Definition Audio, Ready)
> 1-2 VS-100 (standard communication device)
> 3-4 VS-100, Ready
> 5-6 VS-100, Ready
> DIGITAL VS-100, Ready
> MAIN VS-100, Default Device

(* I disabled the Audio on my Logitech webcam and also the Audio part of my ATI Graphics card)

Windows Sounds are all those goofy wav files that the operating system plays.

Control Panel -> Sounds and set 'em all to none (might be different in vista or win7)

To Disable Windows sounds on Win7
Right click on desktop
Select Personalize
Select Sounds at bottom of screen
Select Sounds Tab and then select none from the drop down menu under Sounds. You can also disable Play windows startup sound from here. You can also do this from the control panel under Apperance and Personlization.

Hello Brian and Mac,

I checked this on my system but under tab [Sounds] the Sounds are already set to {none} and the settings are disabled!

So obviously windows system sounds are also not the issue here then?

ok guys,

I tried the following :

I switched off onboard audio again. Then i switched off all devices under the Windows Mixer Play/Record except those of the VS-100.
Then I removed all .ini files of both Band In a Box and RealBand and rebooted the system.

I started RealBand and after closing the [Midi Drv dialog] twice I got a termination error again.

Now when I started SONAR after this it reported no audio drivers on the system anymore! The driver dialog was all empty. I had to reboot my PC to get them back.

Does anyone of you still have an idea where to look at now?

Thanks in advance,

Valentino

This is really beginning to sound like a problem with the device's drivers.

Not sure if you've done this already, but a visit to the mfr's website, support pages and looking for other drivers for your operating system is what I'd be doing.

If there are *any* other drivers published for the device, worth a try to download, install and see if they perform.

Hi Mac,

Thanks again for your reply. Im already using the latest (2010) Roland driver 2.0 64 bits for my new VS-100 Audio Device. As said I switched off all other drivers reported by the system including Onboard Audio which didnt help. I also tried to install a Generic Text Only Printer set as Default above my HP Printer to see if this could help but it didnt (was a hint I saw somewhere on the net). I also updated my ATI Graphics driver card to the latest version at the HP support site. As far as I can see now there are no other drivers to update, and besides that, all other drivers beside VS-100 are switched off anyway?

I believe Mac is suggesting trying older drivers if available.

Sometimes newest is not equal to best.

Like I said, if *any* other drivers for my OS are available from the mfr's website, I would try them...
