Deej / Ray, Outstanding collaboration. Love the song, melody and arrangement. Production is great, as is the excellent vocal. You both have really hit a high mark with this one. Love it all! Bob Thanks Bob, you're a generous fellow.

That's a song to keep on repeat. Good separation of instruments. I like that organ in my left ear. Great vocal. The sudden increase in volume at about 4:35 jarring.

Great sounding collaboration combining the best parts of two songwriters and strengthening them. Very strong lyrics fitting perfectly with the melody. Powerful images between heaven and hell, sometimes dark but still with heavenly lines like "Let’s raise our arms up to an endless sky/And shout our love defiantly".
Ray's arrangement, melody and chords are in their own class, classic ballad writing with some unique trademarks. Deej's vocal is full of believable emotional. The organ and guitars merge into an enjoyable sound.
That grande finale part was a great surprise, I really like its raucousness.

Laurent, Vic, Dave, Floyd, DC Ron, Bob, Routou, Dan, David, Alan, Peter, BD, Mario, Ezekiel, Janne, and Scott:
Gosh, sorry all . . . I’ve been remiss in getting back to you all on the comments. Thanks to Ray for picking up my slack!! Appreciate the listens and all of the thoughtful comments. Some thoughts on them below:
Vocals Mix: I had thought the vocals were right were they need to be in the mix . . . I still kind of think that. Obviously at the 4:30 mark or so, they take a turn as the music reaches a crescendo . . . but as Ray has noted, that vocal treatment there is a bit intended. If anything, as DC Ron points out, in retrospect, dampening the vocals on the outro a tad may have been warranted. Regardless, I’m not sure we’ll revisit it, but all worthy and appreciated comments nonetheless.
Harmonies: Dan, yeah, it’s a fair comment regarding the synching of the harmonies. Most of that is intended . . . or rather just the way I often sing my BGVs . . . but they are probably a couple spots where it could have been tighter. Just me being lazy, LOL!!
Thanks all!
Deej

Excellent lyric and melody along with vocal/instrumental performances and the BiaB session folks. And it’s wrapped in a very cohesive mix.
Love this: “I don’t know about tomorrow I can’t see the future clear Let the fortunes take us where they will As long as I can have you near Through the blue and black From here to hell and back Standing tall or on my knees I ain’t searching for salvation You’re all the heaven that I need”
The vid is excellent - we like the views of Ray and the phantom band members mixed in with the movie clips. 😊 Thanks for providing the tech details.
Great collab!

Hi Deej and Ray.
What an outstanding collaboration. This song is superb. The production really glistens with talent. I haven't watched the video yet. I intend to do that once I have written this. I really love how these lyrics are filled with specific images and yet are able to be interpreted in a number of ways. There are many situations that apply to shouting love defiantly when people tell you you are on the path to hell. This whole presentation is a real credit to both of you.
--Noel
P.S. I love the phrases "Through the blue and black, From here to hell and back". They are such a clever way of using images to show 'whatever comes along, every day and every night I'll be there'.

J&B, Brad, Noel and David:
I truly appreciate the listens and feedback. For me, it's one of the better set of lyrics that I've written in a while, inspired by Ray's great musical canvas.
Noel: Your wrote that the "lyrics are filled with specific images and yet are able to be interpreted in a number of ways." That's really one of the things that I shoot for when I'm writing a lyric. In poetry, the poems that really affect me are those that don't tell the whole story concretely, that leave things open to interpretation. I refer that to being "the story behind the story". In music, I think that type of approach can help a song resonate with a broader audience, who are able to insert themselves into the song. For this tune specifically, I started with one story in mind, and by the time I finished, it seemed ti could also be another. I like to embrace that duality when a song has potential for it. Thanks for the listen!
Deej
