One of your very best, Marty, simple as that. Loved that chromatic ending. I need to watch the video again, because I keep being interrupted as I sit to watch it, but - from what I've seen, great job on it, too smile A special mention to Dave Bell on guitar ... superb job, as always.

Once again - top notch, in every single way, from the lyrics to the musical writing, to the guitar interlude and, last but definitely not least, your wonderful, slightly ironic singing, which fits the song like a glove. Congrats smile

Both your bass and Dave's guitar are perfect - as always.
Excellent mix.

Confederate Railroad needs to cover this!

Thanks, Floyd. Man, I know some of Confederate Railroad. Someone else (or was it you) turned me on to them a short time ago. Man, it'd be cool to have ANYone cover one of my tunes.

Thanks, Laurent. Nah, when the sad clown comes to lament, we remind him of how cool the show was.

HAHA. Thanks, Dewey. Learning about the brain is one of my favorite things to study. Merry Cristmas, Dewey!

This is the (second [*]) most unusual clown song I've ever heard, and that's a good thing, because I love it.
Great production, and Dave does his usual guitar magic.
Love it!

[*] There was a German band that wrote a song “The clown got the blues” (with German lyrics), which I also really like.
Thanks, Brain. Now I've gotta hear that German song. Please send. My search only revealed one by MadCraker6, which is not very good.

Love the whole thing actually.
Dave's kick off is a grand one, the bass is wonderful and the voice is SUPERB.
Thanks, Ray. Yeah, it never ceases to amaze me how he comes up with the perfect track even when it ain't the Blues.

Thanks, James. I couldn't find a sick-enough calliope so did some out-of-tune guitar with a wonky keyboard. I guess the irony I hear is my happiness for the clown because now he doesn't have to wear that ridiculous makeup. Turns out he scared kids without it.

"He didn't quite foresee how the world was gonna be,
and clowns would one day cause fear."

We've pondered that having both grown up in the happy clown world.

That is a remarkably creative lyric. You tell great stories in your songs and wow this one is standout.
The initial seemingly contradictory title really sets it up.

Excellent vocals and instrumental performance by you and Dave.
The organ was a nice addition. All around great band and mix.

Enjoyed it and the very cool video!

Great observation that lent it self well toward a clever, esoteric song. There aren't any more animals in the Ringling Circus, I wonder if they removed the clowns, too? Pennywise certainly wreaked his havoc on the culture. Great work!

I've never known a clown or been a clown so not easy to relate to the story wink But still an entertaining story with an interesting character, quite sad and some Stephen King & Joker feel there, I could already see a sequel, "The revenge of the sad clown" wink Creative storystelling once again!

Great, expressive vocals. Pleasant band and no one can ever fill Dave's big shoes or replace his big fills.

Very nice tearful ending.

Janne

Thanks, J&B. I've only known happy clowns in my childhood, too. Killer Clowns From Outer Space was blasphemous to this little kid.

Thanks, Bob! Barnum would've figured a way to capitolize all of that. Pennywise is one even our granddaughter won't watch, and she's seen every scarey movie since she was 4. She's not scared of clowns, just jump-scares, so she's more afraid of movie directors and such.

HAHA. Good one, King & The Joker. What a wicked duo. Also, good sequel plot, Janne. You're right about Dave's big shoes. He's got a lot of guitars in there.
