RealTracks Artist Bio: Mike Clark

Gracing us with his fantastic drumming skills, Mike Clark has had a colourful career playing with Herbie Hancock and has been a big inspiration to aspiring drummers the world over. Mike Clark received international acclaim after playing Hancock’s “Actual Proof” and has been a formative jazz musician for lovers of the genre ever since.

Originally from Sacramento, California, Mike Clark’s dad was incredibly fond of jazz and blues, and Mike Clark absorbed this same appreciation for music from his father and his time spent travelling via the railroad system. Along the way he absorbed regional music styles that heavily influenced his personal style. At the age of 4, Mike Clark was already considered a prodigy and could be found playing with bands in both Texas and New Orleans. When Mark Clark hit his twenties, he helped to found the East Bay Sound.

Mike Clark has many achievements under his belt, but some include his performances with Christian McBride, Chet Baker, Tony Bennett, Albert King, Bobby McFerrin, Oscar Brown Jr, Gil Evans and his orchestra, and many more.
